The free campground at Laurel Springs is open and dry.
Bodhi,
Send me an email. Mine to you bounced.
I'm probly up for Ginny Lakes Friday. Let me know.
We'll be rolling in sometime late on Thursday and departing on Monday.
Staying in same complex as asandygal's condo. I'm in unit E-8 with Turx, Cinders and a few non-maggot friends.
spoke to a guy @ CalTrans today who says 108 is punched through all the way over the pass, but they have some work to do widening it and doing road & guardrail repairs, cleaning drains, etc - estimated Friday opening - might help some of those going to and from the mini
I'm still a maybe...
They've now plowed 120 all the way to Tioga Pass. Now they need to widen it before they can open. Fingers crossed it is finished by Thursday evening when I want to go through. At least we know we can drive up there this weekend to get some lines.
Has anyone been on the mountain the last few days?
I'm wondering if the new snow they got was able to bond up, or if it was just dust on crust.
Just dust-on-crust? Dude, I'll take that. It can be loads of fun.
Better than slush on mank, or whatever that super sticky springtime stuff is that messes with the Corning.
If the forecasts hold true, this will be the coldest (48?) Spring Mini I've been to.
So late in the year, too...brr!
EDIT:
I'LL BE "OFFLINE" UNTIL NEXT WEEK.
IN THE UNLIKELY EVENT THAT YOU NEED TO CONTACT ME, PLEASE "PM" SINECURE.
Will be up starting tomorrow night, and since a lot of you are staying in our complex (Mountain Shadows... which is definitely stumbling distance from Robertos)... we wanted to extend the invite to all the "chilly campers" to come over and enjoy our jacuzzis/showers with us.
Lego and Divegirl are staying with us Friday and Saturday night too... so if any of you are interested in coming over to visit, feel free. I don't know if the bb-ques are out yet (I will know tomorrow night, once I get home), but we can always set up a temporary grill outside Saturday night, if you are interested in grilling that night, or any night, for a mini-gathering. We will definitely be visiting everyone else staying in our neighborhood ! :)
If you were around last year, hopefully you remember where we are... if not, call out to me on the hill or ask around!
Mmmm. Jacuzzi. Yeah, the camping is looking to be chilly. Just hoping those upper elevations will be skiable come this weekend.
I'll be meeting up with Dookey on at bottom of 2 on Thursday morning. Can't really expect the epic corn we found last year, but who knows. I heard they got a few inches and it rained again this afternoon on the coast.
Edit: damn. Top of the page again. It is almost like I am trying.
Looks like I'm out due to a combination of factors. Bummed.
Have fun all.
Fuck. This weather is just plain not looking good, let alone for any sort of BC projects. Thursday should be OK, but Fri/Sat/Sun need to warm up quickly or I'm going to need a better reason to show up besides skiing frozen railroad tracks.

I had obligations come up for Friday and Saturday nights, but if the forecast looks like 3+" of snow Saturday night and Sunday, I will drive up early Sunday morning for some late winter love from Ullr.
Yeah, I've been watching this system all week wondering about it...still planning on some bc Friday though...
If you need a reason, you can help me disembowel the cooler of booze I am toting along again this year...last night I just made one gallon of Hurricanes, one gallon of Blues, and one fifth of green-ades which is over one gallon total of straight 80 proof in the mixes (about the equivalent of a beer keg)...packing all the ingredients for some Caucasions (for the Dude costume) and bringing Jager-Absenthe bombs...
If Asandygal can hook me up with a parking pass for the Shadows, I will set up bar there for the weekend since it is pretty central...
peace,
D.
It looks like I'll be cruising through Mammoth on Saturday around noon, to pick up a bicycle (found a Kona Sutra via craigslist). I'll look around for the maggotry...
weather forecast is causing me to cancel. might try to go up next weekend. Have fun.
Hmmm, based on latest forecast, it looks like fun stuff to me. Granted, I will likely be railing the groomers off the top, unless there is enough fresh snow to ski the rest of the firm snow conditions on the mountain, but shit, did you read what Bodhi is bringing? I love Harpoons. Save me one for Sunday Bodhi.

I'm out for the mini. Injured ankle.
You will be missed Tarka.......Heal up.
Bodhi,we have a extra parking pass for you.Won`t be up until Firday morning though.
I'm headed up tomorrow expecting winter camping conditions. Got a box of kindling and more beer than I can drink. Looking for chaos.
out
staying close to home - likely going to Sonora Pass Sat or Sun depending upon weather and road opening
Shit, I know we were skiing fresh this time two years ago.
But we were doing it in the sunshine. ;)
i'll be up tomorrow, not really looking forward to camping in cold w/ 70 mph gust but wtf it's the mini.
will be at Ginny Lakes tomorrow ~830 AM
Anyone else think Laurel Springs campground is a good idea? That's my defacto unless Ottime or cdlv find a better solution.
Driving to SLT tonight and then down early tomorrow ...
Cool...I think Mark is going to get me a parking pass, but if he doesn't I will count on you...looks like Dude and I will be staying in one of the condos Friday night and then camping in the truck Saturday night if I cannot find any floor space for us inside one of the Shadows...
And the Bar is ready to be drank by any willing participants.
peace,
D.
Kiddies.......it is pure shit up here right now and will get more shitty as the winds and clouds move thru.....bring your beer goggles and cancel the BC. Boiler plate is to kind a description for anything off piste. The 1-3 inches of snow will be blown way the fuck outta here, if it indeed shows. I know why am I posting in anything but a 333 hater thread! Just a heads up this is gonna be a shitshow weather wise for the next 3 days. That being said-off to the tour of cali.......
Fiday looks like crap.
I'm gonna hit it as soon as it softens up.
Just got word from powdork and ottime that they have set up Fort FKNAv4
off Scenic Loop Road, north side of the road (right turn heading into Mammoth) and it's the "biggest road just before Inyo Craters."
There is a little snow but powdork said "unlimited room for cars and my little subie could get back here so no problem."
I'm going to nix Laurel Springs and go here, since it is now FKNAv4. Also the cell service is very good there.
No bailing!
If the BC doesn't work out, we should all hit this beauty on Saturday and Sunday:

Oh please... I hope you were kidding. Got out there around 12:30 today and it was pretty darn nice! Not bad at all... granted the upper mountain off-piste was a little "railroady", but the back side (a little hiking involved), under Kiwi and Phillipes, and ALL of Lincoln was creamy butter!
Yumm!
And the BC on Lincoln would be a lot of fun for those of you without a pass! The snow went all the way to chair 15 and there were lots of skin tracks up Lincoln on the sunny side!
Just got back from Happy Hour at Robertos too! Whoo hoo!
The library is closing though... gotta run! The b-bques are NOT out at Mountain Shadows, so bring the backup Twins and we can have dinner Saturday night, if you want!!!
