Cheap, lotta kick, good sized round. Are you just looking for a plinking gun?
I might carry for BC in fall and late spring, but that's it. Inbounds, in-resort, it's just dead weight, and I have enough of that.
M595, .22-250. They don't make 'em anymore.
FuckeeFaggot - Let's say the impossible happens and you get your way and all guns are outlawed. There's a bazillion guns in private ownership right now. How many people will willingly give them up to the government? How many will just say "somebody stole it a year ago"? How many of the millions of criminals who own guns will turn them in? You see, dipshit, guns aren't like skis - they don't wear out in two seasons. How are you gonna get rid of all those guns, moron?
I have the shotgun and the 9mm for personal defense. Police response times where I live can be 4+ hours. Plus, you never know when you'll have to rise up against a tyrranical government. The Tikka is for assassinating clay pigeons at long range. The Bakker shotgun is for the wall - it's got a demascus barrel - you can't shoot it. The .44 is just rad,nd I've used it for hunting. And their all fun. And I can own them, so I do. I don't shoot to blow off steam. Long range shooting with the Tikka is actually a Zen experience.
And Dex - nothing's changed, you're still a loserpud.
No but if your going to get a surplus WW rifle get a Mauser. Probably the single most copied design in gun history. The SPringield 1903 is based on it I believe and they go for 1k. Mauser = Cheap 100 bucks.
I have an Lee Enield for sentimental reasons. 150 at a gun show and it can drop an elephant, but not many around here.
That point is lost on most anti's.
I have only purchased 5 firearms from a gunshop. The rest (more than one but less than I need) were private sales or trades. Nobody, not even my insurance co. has any record of my collection. So when Truckee gets his wish, how do you intend to take mine?
My friend has a Soviet Mosin with almost the same story, brought home as a war trophy and used as a saddle gun in the Bitteroot for thirty years until the gentleman sold it to my friend.
If it hasn't been fired in a long long time it might be worth getting it check out, i.e. head space. My Japanese type 99 is unfireable due to this.

Definitely sounds like you are into shooting. Have you ever watched the trace of a bullet fly down range? That is really cool to watch. Looks just like in the movie The Matrix.
For you AR guys you might want to think about switching over to a gas piston. Have heard good things about it and will get first hand experience this summer when I am able to try it. You can buy a conversion kit in the link that you can assemble yourself.

This is a complete article and installation tutorial done by Denny.

I thought the Ares system was doa. They seem to be more of a joke on arfcom than anything. There are conversions/uppers out there though!
I have a draft of suit papers on my home computer for Ares/Geoff Herring over the Shrike debacle. Just haven't pulled the trigger. They moved from Virginia to Florida, guess the islands are next (better machinists offshore you know).
What part of Kansas? Used to travel out there to find birds. Have family on the Kansas/Nebraska line in the little town of Chester.

Grew up in Topeka, then 7 years in Lawrence, been in the KC area for about 2 years now.
Well I guess I won't waste my money then.

Has some trigger work and some other tweaks, it shoots wicked well.
Headed to Texas with it next week for a little dog shooting, taking that and a 240 Weatherby, a Ruger 30 (both for the hogs) and my coolie Sako 17.

Makes me think about cleanin' my weapon........before or after I go to the "range"?
So anyone bought anything off of www.gunbroker.com?
Is it safe? Safer than ebay?
I found a gun I wanted on Gunbroker, registered, and by the time I got back on the site the gun had sold. I looked at the seller's name, called him, and told him what I wanted and asked if he had anymore. He was a dealer in New York state. He had what I wanted, I paid him over the phone, and he sent the gun to my local dealer (in CO.) I think I had it in hand within a week. So, not exactly a GunBroker.com transaction, but I did find a good dealer through that site.
Finally learned how to use a camera:

Nice line up.
Only have an old hand me down now.

Model 37 20ga, fun for clays. Looking for a solid 9mm handgun.

Thanks
Yup AZ.
Makes for lots of travel to ski.
There are lots of choices for 9mm. I would pm coreshot-tourettes. He seems pretty knowledgable on the handguns. I just plink so am definitely no expert.
Damnit! This thread makes me want guns.
Acquiring a gun in Norway legally is a very thorough process, though.
That doesn´t mean I don´t agree with the grounds for thoroughness. Here you go:
Shotgun: You have to be 18+ and a registered hunter to get a permit for owning one. In certain cases, you can have one from the age of 16, but I´m not entirely sure on the bureacracy there. Think you have to hit 25/50 skeets, too. Again, not sure.
Hunting rifle: Same as above, but you need to do a shooting test once each year. You´re not allowed to go grouse hunting with these, I think. Why one would want to do this, I´m uncertain of.
Assault rifle: National guard or other military personnel. No one is allowed to actually own an assault rifle in Norway, though. State property.
Pistols/revolvers: You need to have been a registered, active member of a pistol shooting club for at least six months before being able to apply for ownership of a pistol/revolver. You´re not allowed to hunt with these, but you´ll be encouraged to carry a high caliber pistol/revolver for polar bear defence when going on scooter safaris on Svalbard.
Airsoft/BB-guns: Just turn 18.
When an individual owns five or more firearms, he or she will have to get a certified gun cabinet. The police will go through your records whenever you´re trying to get an owner´s permit, and if you´ve had any encounters with the world of psychiatry.
I like these rules, as we have very few gun related deaths in this country.
Any Norwegian mags with more gun related legal knowledge than I possess, please correct me where/if wrong.
On my own interest of guns - they just intrigue me, and I would love to get a hunter´s course for grouse hunting and the eventual purchase of a shotgun. I´ve shot an old Czech over/under 12ga, and it was pretty fun - tin cans suffered.
In the future, I may also get into pistol shooting, but I have some issues with the eyes, and it may prove to be difficult. However, since I was 10 or 12 playing Rainbow Six on the old 166mhz win95 setup, I´ve wanted to at least test shoot an HK USP .45 or mark23.
Any of you ever tried either?
I've known a few 'Wegians who obviously didn't follow the rules.
Yep. It´s not too hard getting illegal/unregistered/stolen weapons, but I´m gonna choose to not go that route.
I used to casually fuck a girl that was a total gun freak. Sessions usually started with some shooting (she had a big collection), then some drinking/bong hits(she was very safe with guns so always after), followed by crazy fucking. Guns are kinda cool.
Arlid, I have had an HK Tactical .45 for several years. Never jammed the first time. You had better have big hands as it has a double stack magazine and therefore a large grip. Great accurate shooter.
The Mark 23 is even larger. See if you can shoot one before purchasing.
Ken
Heh, me not having huge, but somewhat large hands, I suspect the mk23 would be too big - I actually looked at the USP compact tactical - hell, I´m not going to kill anyone before the next invasion(heee hee heee), so an eight round clip might be good anyways.
Getting the hunter´s permit in the fall, then go buy a good, affordable shotgun and start plucking grouse. The pistol deal will have to wait for a couple of years (a USP .45 is priced about USD 2000 with the currency exchange in mind).
And about the first thing in my last paragraph - A decent, not extremely expensive over/under 12ga suggestion?
Several come to mind. If you can find an old Winchester 101, those are nice (under $1,000 for a field grade). Browning Citori is nice, but pricey (Over $1,500 now). One of my favorites is an SKB 500 (made for Ithaca), which can be had for under $700 USD.
Look around on Gunbroker.com or gunsamerica.com
