1. Confused about you and admin. Sorry about that.
2. There probably isn't definition of extreme, it might be a you know it when see it. The photo you had though is not like the Messner or Orient or anything in that whole area. They are classics but not in the upper realm. Isn't the Messner the Sylvain anyway?
3. Have you ever skied a line by put in by Tardivel or Ptor? Do you even know them?
4. I've heard about the mountains around Aspen, but this wasn't near there was it?
4. Not to bust your balls, but the basis for the first descent was only your knowledge?
5. What was the name of the peak?
Its a very nice line. I don't understand why you brought into a conversation about a ski shop though. Take your own advice about lightening up.
If there were any doubts about the shitty CS at Neptune before this thread then it is glaringly obvious now, stupid employees coming in here, not trying to do cool shit like "oh damn, sorry about all the bad experiences, here have some deals/pro forms/whatever" as most companies tend to do here, even without scathing reviews present on the board. But they come in to lambaste us and throw out lame attempts at positive reviews for their stores.
Next time post after you think it through. If you're going to post in threads about your crappy service post apologies, not rebuttals.
You FAIL.
Did no-one else notice that superstar did not know what size ski boots he wears? All ski boot shells and liners only come in ten mm jumps. It's a big jump if you don't like the fit you must custom fit the boot or buy one that fits out of the box. Pretty basic stuff here any first year ski shop employee knows this and tries to explain to customers but every knows more than the people who do it for a living, because after all the are superstars.
He special ordered a boot he never tried on then did not want it. As I said earlier customers that have problems at retail are customers that don't know anything about the equipment they buy. And they don't take the time to find out they just blame everyone else.
At least I know what size ski boot shell I ski in. The only people that don't know what size shells they ski in are hacks and teenagers who foot is still growing. Don't you kids have class to go to.:fuckyou:
Alright I finally caught up with you guys. All eleven pages and now I'd like to chime in.
Having been an owner of a small restaurant and having worked at many small businesses including my current position in a local ski shop I'd like to say that the customer is USUALLY right. I have, in very rare circumstances, booted customers from my establishment for being inappropriately rude to myself and my employees. My view was that they (the customer) were buying a good or service from me and not buying the right to treat me or my employees like shit so I told them to take their business elsewhere. Instances like that were VERY RARE and I think that the customers I told to go away were probably mentally ill in some way.
I also used to work in a cube answering phones for Symantecs (Norton Antivirus) customer service and we would occasionally get the extremely irate phone call from some guy who just lost all his info to a virus and the first words out of his mouth were something to the effect of "You fucking cocksuckers fucked up my machine". To which I would reply "Sir, I understand your frustration but I'm going to have to ask you to conduct yourself in a professional manner or I will be forced to end this conversation." (that was the company policy towards lewd behavior from irate customers)
My point is that there are RARE circumstances when a person ceases to be a "Customer" and is really just an asshole that needs to leave. However, good customer service means that you try everything in your power to satisfy the customer above all things. If that does not work and said customer no longer wants to be pleased but instead wants to take that opportunity to unleash all their frustrations with their life on you then its time to cut them off. (IMO)
That being said, when a customer comes into the shop I'm currently working at and requests to pick up their order I stop whatever I am doing and begin my search. I will turn over every box and package to find (or not find) their item before I say whether or not its there. Thats my job. If I can't find the item for whatever reason I find out why its not there (hasn't arrived yet, wasn't ordered, out of stock, customer is confused and didn't order anything from us at all) and then inform the customer. I know it seems like basic common knowledge that I would do that (being that its my job and all) but it never ceases to amaze me how incompetent some people can be.
Incompetent people or not I find that getting irate or being a condescending asshole towards a customer or an employee goes nowhere fast. I find that the best way to handle other peoples incompetence is with calm and stern competence on my part. Thats right, sometimes you have to be competent enough for two people (sometimes more).
It sounds to me like the employee was incompetent at performing his job and Adimmen was incompetent and getting his point accross.
I'm gonna go to sleep now and go skiing in the morning.
Ineptude.
Dude.
Where folks are rude.
Take a Lude, or you will be screwed.
And please, post pics of your sister, Nude.
make em' lewd.
What, is she a prude?
Make her eat some food.
Y'know, the kind thats chewed.
WOAH! I'm gonna get sued!
this is turning into a fued.
If I keep it up, I'm gonna get booed.
I am in a prosaic mood!
and two to defend why they wouldn't help the customer on an internet forum, all the while being mocked for being obtuse and transparent.
how exactly is someone supposed to try on a boot that isn't available except through a limited pre-order. If this is normal for you guys, then I would love to come in sometime soon and take a look at, flex, maybe even demo the new g3 AT binding mounted on black diamond's new reverse camber ski. If you are half as core as you seem to think you are, then you will be able to hook this up no problem.
Doesn't google continually update it's crawler?
Let's try an bump this back up.
Update:
Enter 'neptune Mountaineering Sucks', and this thread is #1.
If everyone that cares to continues to search these terms, and start/reply to topics with these terms, this thread 'should' come back up to #1 on all 'neptune' searches, correct?
This looks like a fun experiment.
'Neptune'.
Neptune Sucks.
Neptune Mountaineering Sucks.

LEAVE NEPTUNE MOUNTAINEERING ALONE!!!! YOU BASTARDS!!!!
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b1...neyAlone-2.jpg <-- *side note* is that a chick or a dude?
Ok, proceed.
okbye
I vote chick, look at those lashes.
I wish there was a mountain here, let alone a mountaineering store. Then I too could get banned for being sarcastic.
I was banned from Home Depot once, but I still shop there. I wasn't sarcastic, I just threw a trashcan. I can't remember why, but it seemed like a good idea at the time. I was young, hotheaded, and foolish. I shouldn't have done it.
I have to wonder if that is the cause of this incident, ultimately? A couple of hotheads feeling their oats.
Criminy, just go out and sink an axe in some snow, and chillout.
I really appreciate how some dick waving about skiing prowess and first descents made it into this thread. Well done guys.:D
There's only dick waving because of people on "The Program". The effect wears off after a few days. Then they'll go back to being nice little kittens
I just wanted to chime in and say that this google thing is bizarre.
I am definitely interested to know what the deal is there.
I otherwise have nothing to add to this very, very interesting thread.
Of course you have something to add. Try this one:
Neptune Mountaineering smells like poo!
or
Neptune Mountaineering is a subsidiary of Halliburton!
ok.
the employees at neptune mountaineering work for neptune mountaineering.
and maybe they drink beer, so they can't be all bad.
In this time honored internet message board drama, this is usually about the time that some savvy employee, usually a higher up or perhaps Gary Neptune himself, logs on and makes a self effacing diplomatic post and apologizes for the misunderstanding. He/she won't admit fault nor blame the customer. They will chalk it up to a simple misunderstanding brought on by inexperienced staff and a hectic holiday season. They will welcome everybody to the store and throw the original poster a bone like a few free tunes or perhaps some stickers and a t-shirt. They might even throw out a 15% discount code out there as a peace offering. A few people will attack this gesture, but most will commend them on making the effort and within 3 pages and 4-5 posts by the neptune employee this thread will become a neptune love fest, especially after the employee offers to buy the original poster a few beers at Southern Sun after a slideshow event and they become fast friends, perhaps even lovers.
once again this just proves how shitty your apparent view of customer service is...Quote:
As I said earlier customers that have problems at retail are customers that don't know anything about the equipment they buy
"Customer Service
We Value Your Input
At Neptune Mountaineering we greatly value our customers and their needs.
If you need to return an item, please help us by enclosing a brief explanation of what was unsatisfactory (color, fit, function…)."
Ummm...website needs some updating I guess...
That is very weird that it disappeared from google. does Gary Neptune actually control google?
It is still there
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&c...ineering+sucks
^Hmm... then anyone else have an explanation for why the thread dropped at *least* 100 ranking spots? (I got tired of looking past 10 pages)
I don't believe anything I read on this board, so without steering her response I asked my fiance, a climber and former boulder lefty for her opinion on Neptune. She told me that they have nice gear but that they are extremely arrogant, that they were always nice to her, but she always assumed it was because she is a girl. She reminded me that she has warned me about the place in the past.
Case closed. Even a random girl in Iowa knows that place sucks.
If anyone has any doubt this is getting to them, the antics with google answered that question. The fictitious positive experience thread showed they didn't learn anything from this entire mess. When challenged, they resorted to the same arrogant, insulting replies. Someone needs to find a way to repost that thread.
It'll be up tonight... found a host
I'm guessing this thread was never showing up and it was the front page of the skiing forum people where seeing in the results with this thread title in short description. I'm still getting the skiing forum's front page pooping up as the 6th result in a search results for "Neptune mountaineering sucks"
Search neptune mountaineering. The positive experience thread they deleted shows up at the bottom of the the first page. I can't fathom why they would want a thread about someone's positive shopping experience deleted.:rolleyes2
mmmm, Google cache
http://209.85.165.104/search?q=cache...s&client=opera
Get this... from the 10th result when searching for Neptune Mountaineering on google:
Quote:
Positive Neptune Mountaineering Experiences - Teton Gravity ...
I think that this board has had too many negative experiences at Neptune. ..... sarcastic remarks can get you banned from Neptune Mountaineering, adimmen ...
http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...d.php?t=105618 - 111k - Cached - Similar pages - Note this
Weird, I don't get any mountaineering pages when I google:
"teen lesbian orgy neptune mountaineering sucks titty shaved round asses"
... at least, not in the 1st 1000 hits or so...
No worries, it should be back... Google generally doesn't return multiple pages from a site for the same search query. It was outranked by the "positive thread" and now that it's gone, will likely return when they get around to recrawling the page.
</meaningless_SEO_info>
bump, 'cause Gary or someone else needs to be public about the suckiness of CS the last few years.
and 30 years back Gary would wait on you, and ask you if you wanted to go climb later.
go see Larry or Marshal. Larry carries Garmont (i think); I know he carries G3.
