I'm loving this thread.

Unfortunately, I'm to busy "building shit" to shoot and post. That will change soon though... On June 1st, I wrap up this long term project and become a slum lord for the first time.

It consumed my ski season, but it wont get kayaking... yeah!

RE:wine rack issues to watch for - when we did our cellar we used a mix of single bottle racks and the diagonal cubes. Two things came up that suck - many large burgundy style bottle don't fit into the single bottle racks we got and then they are a problem in the cubes as well 'cause the sloped necks let them want to slide out when stacked. Consider buying single racks that are definitely big enough for burg bottles.

Built this beastoid during my senior year of high school. Since then I haven't had much time to finish up the roof and make it aesthetically pleasing. Stands about 30 feet tall. Was pretty cool to view our ponds/property from that perspective for the first time. Quite sketchy getting the 5 main support columns up; though now it's sturdy as hell.

These gates are on that new building on 8th Ave N just off Dexter in Seattle, aren't they? Nice work man, they are very cool!

Edit: After seeing those other pics, they are definitely from 8th Ave N. Small world man, I live less than a block away.

At a friend's 50th b-day last summer, I must have had too much to drink.... I volunteered to "help" an artist friend put a skylight in his "flat" roof. It was a lot more work (as usual!), but it was actually very satisfying. He's super pysched and now we have three new paintings which we really love. (We only buy (or barter) art from people we know. Our logic being, that way they mean something to us.)

As you can see, I flared the opening out quite a bit which I think is key for bringing in more light. All I did is install LVL headers at 45* on the sides and build up from there.

It's motorized, too (VERY KEY!!!) and I angled it so that when fully open, it still sheds water if it rains (it does have a rain sensor, though).

You are not supposed to leave Grace Vycor Plus or Grace Ice and Water Shield exposed to sunlight for over 30 days. It will break down when left exposed to sunlight.

Also, Grace Ice and Water Shield is not chemically compatible with EPDM - http://www.graceathome.com/pages/dow.../GIWS-060P.pdf

Grace Vycor Plus is not designed for roofing details.

You should of used EPDM. Sorry to say, but this thing will leak.
