Sorry to keep the minions waiting...I went to sleep last night.
If no one else wants to try, it's a mispronounciation/mistransliteration of the Scandinavian name Reul (spelling?), the guy who originated the turn (on 7 foot wooden skis). Americans took it without knowing it was a guy's name, and pronounced it 'royal'.
There were Look XMs that were red and blue.

The Kastle RX12's were mostly white with, as I recall, red and blue lettering and very little or no graphics to speak of.

Mark III - Blue with white lettering
Mark IIIs - Deep Blue purple with yellow letting
VCE - reddish maroon sorta with yellow or white lettering

I never skied any Olins either. Very popular in their day....almost as popular as the N170 brand.
heh, those N170's rocked. Wasn't there something that was supposed to be unique about the way Olin's were constructed? I seem to recall something like that.
The Olin Mark VI came in 2 versions: The SL (Dark Grn w/yellow letters) and the GS (my first 200cm+ ski) which was Gray with dark red Lettering.

The only thing I've ever wanted with the Olin name on it was a park bench made out of Mark II V.C.E.'s; Olin sold these benches to their dealer network and I'd love to find one in good condition.
Edit: Olin is making skis again. I can't, however, say that any of us are the better for it.

My bad "3" was a typo. I had a pair of IVs and no or not much turned up tail. The COMP IV had a squarish tip , white lettering and I'm thinking no groove and a pronouced truned up tail.
