Second shot is money.
First isn't too shabby, either.
Heading up Tue - Thurs after this snowpocalypse has a minute to settle.
Want to show a relative Mammoth noob around a bit?
I’m up in Bozeman visiting my kid at school, but have been following the storm news from here. Checkout the difference in snowfall totals for the storm cycle, Tahoe vs Mammoth. Huge.

Sugar Bowl reporting 125” to Mammoth’s 39”. That’s a 7ft spread, and the difference between closing on Memorial Day vs 4th of July maybe? Ouch.
On a positive note, Bridger Bowl & Big Sky have been off the hook! Back in ML soon.
Anyone else get stuck on 25 for 40 minutes yesterday?
Top popped on schedule this morning. Surprisingly good snow given the wind exposure.
Once again, Bernie times it right and skis it better than any of us ever could.

(Hmmmm, apparently instagram doesn't like being embedded)
Hey Mammoth people! I am a New Englander mag headed to Mammoth next weekend for 4ish days. I don't see much (or any) snow in the forecast. Headed there with my GF who has some injuries that will probably keep her from skiing a ton.
Anyone want to let me tag along? I have skiied mammoth before but always more fun with others.
Also wanted to know by Tuesday whether or not I should bring touring/avy gear. I won't go alone and I know most people don't like to bring a random, but I have toured with some other mags in Teton pass and Utah and a few other places and I don't think I ever ruined anyone's day.
I am thinking to just bring some 99 wide all mountain skis. ??
And what's the best spot for St Patrick's day vibes?
Happy trails,
JH
Wind buff was going off today. So fun.
I will be around next Saturday and Sunday, although have kid ski races I think on Sunday. Won't be touring with my family logistics and my understanding is much of the bc is wind hammered at the moment. Likely some spots w/ goodness if you really know where to find it.

Winds were blowing today making for some really good skiing, when you could get to it.
Couple more pics from yesterday. The wind shut down most of the upper mtn but prior to that there was some really good skiing in spots.
Attachment 490090
P1 & P2 were still accessible from ch 14 after G2 and ch 23 shut down and had some fun snow in the afternoon.
Attachment 490091
Ch 22 was down due to the wind so I booted up to the topo of Avi 2 for my last run of the day. It skied well.
Attachment 490092
Lower Avi 2. Winds are forecast to drop some today before another front passes to the North. Enjoy the wind buff while it's here as a big pressure gradient builds later this wekk with strong NE winds.
Alright help me out I have to pack tomorrow. Should I bring touring gear and the beacon shovel probe etc? I brought it last year but never used it...
Thanks [emoji106]
Today (Monday) was another day of relentless winds, cloudy at times, with sections of the mtn skiing well but some wind scour is starting to show up as well. Today the best snow was somewhere with a gulley where the wind was depositing snow. Ridges were not the place to be.
Attachment 490223
Dry Creek off of ch 5 was one of those places that skied well all day.
Attachment 490224
Late afternoon the clouds socked in the Top, light got flat up high and the winds were ripping. Tuesday looks to be another windy day with some nuisance snow showers.
Group Buy set up for 24/25. PM for details.
What a difference 24 hrs makes.

Yesterday (Tues). Cold, flat light, shitty visibility, relentless winds.
It kind of sucked and I was done in an hour.
Attachment 490370
Today. The sun is out, the winds have died down, warm out and hardly anyone here. Skiing is pretty fun as well.
What's the deal for st Patty day there? Anything going on?
Looks like a similar sized animal that was circling around me when I got of the car at Main Lodge last month.

Wednesday wind buff off ch 23.

Paranoids on Wednesday.

Random skier in P3.
Apparently it's gay ski weekend. Lots going on.
Anybody know if June’s last day is free? And when that last day would be?
I have June closing day as April 14th. Last year ride up J1 for egg hunt event was free, but I think still cost money if you want to ski.

Sunday afternoon and the Dropouts are skiing well. No line at ch 23, 1-2 minute lines at Mid.
Got out on the hill at noon just as folks were starting to leave. Within an hour the place emptied out and the afternoon had some fun skiing. Temps are warming up with the lower mtn snow transitioning to spring skiing. Gone were the winds that plagued Mammoth all of last week. The upper mtn is still skiing well in places, but the wind took a toll on the snow in spots.
Attachment 490877
1:30 at ch 2 with no line.
Attachment 490880
The Dry Creek side of Climax skied well with smooth winter chalk.
Attachment 490881
The Wipeout side of ch 23 is f#cked. NE winds hammered the snow and it's going to take a reset to fix that.
Attachment 490884
The Dropout side of is still holding good, smooth winter snow. Laps in Drop 2 were fun.
Attachment 490885
View of Dropouts from 23. Good snow is where the skiers are.
Attachment 490886
Got over to the Paranoids a few times. P2 with some wind rip at the top. Pick your way thru it and there's good snow the rest of the way.
Attachment 490887
The ridge between P2 & P3 all the way down to the rock has good snow on it. Cut left after that.
Attachment 490888
Looking back up from the bottom on the Noids. Best snow down low is where the lone skier is making turns.
Attachment 490889
Last run of the day. Face of 5 with no one on it. The next few days are looking like great days to ski with little to no crowds and no big wind events in the forecast.
Attachment 490892
The warm weather, last day of the Elevation ski week and Saint Patrick's day made for a fun after ski party on the CL deck today.

The green beer was flowing this afternoon. Good times.
