IME they suck in chop. The h-shaped construction sends a lot of feedback to legs. They are surfy though.
Nikolai Schirmer provides some info on them in his recent 2022 gear video.

I concur with Qiliman. I like mine for fresh untracked. They are great in tight trees, they like to pivot. But I keep those and my noctas out of chop as much as possible. Both are great for fresh snow missions, but beyond that, there are many better choices. My Corvus FB gets the most time fore sure. It will ski just about any snow and do it well.
so to answer your 50/50 question, no. I would be more inclined to do that with an Atris. I have my Atris QK for a jester and duke PT (only needed another set of toe holes) but I should of punched them for a jester and a full tech binding, like a raider or yak with a nice wide pattern. That would be a killer set up for a 50/50 and travel ski.
Yeah, I was also thinking about going new Atris for free touring and travel.
so Ferox is pivoty, agile, surfy, but expensive, doesn’t like inconsistent snow and is heavy for pure touring ski.

Cool thanks for the feedback on the Ferox. Atris looks interesting. I wonder if they’re too similar to my Praxis Freerides. Atris is definitely lighter.
I think the Corvus/Corvus FB would be closer to Freerides

under. Both skis are identical. 1072.1. Under by 5.8. Hand flex is ridiculously nicely stiff. Stoked. Narrowest ski I own by 20mm. Lightest ski by 900+
I think this is the thing I appreciate the most with BC - their ability to look at each and every ski, its intended use / purpose and design something to cater to that specific need, not to fit into a line of skis. Each ski is its own thing. It must make BC less profitable than it could be, but it is hard to not respect it as an enthusiast - even if their marketing is over the top for me.
Their skis are like a chefs knife set. Each one with purpose. That’s my favorite part as well. My quiver feels like a Swiss Army knife, tool there for every job.

FWIW I skied the 2018 Anima in the 188 at Stevens Pass on a 10" morning a few years back. Coming from the Atris 189 and Volkl One 186 as my regular soft-snow skis here in CO, the Anima was noticeably stouter in the tail and could definitely ski into the heavier PNW and cut-up areas well. The tip wasn't super stiff but stronger than the Atris. I really liked it, and wouldn't say that it felt like it skied particularly long, but probably a tad short maybe. 6' 170lbs
