Ceasefire by Easter:

NATO Membership: Ukraine would be barred from joining NATO under the plan.

Territorial Concessions: Kyiv would recognize Russian sovereignty over annexed lands and withdraw troops from Kursk.

Demilitarized Zone: European, possibly British, troops would police it; no U.S. involvement.

Reconstruction: EU assistance sought for Ukraine, estimated at $486 billion over a decade.

Timeline:

1) Early February: Zelensky-Putin phone call.

2) Late February to early March: Leaders' meeting.

3) April 20: Ceasefire declaration.

4) By May 9: Agreement terms released, no further martial law or mobilization.

5) Additional Support: Continued U.S. military aid for Ukraine, with a pathway to EU membership by 2030.

On Feb 5, 2025, President Trump's Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia Gen. Keith Kellogg described the next steps in the administration's plan to end the Russia-Ukraine war:

"There's a report out from a news network that says that we're going to present a peace plan next week [at the Munich Security Conference]. No, we're not... The person who's going to present the peace plan is the president of the United States."

"We're going to have great discussions with senior leaders in the European environment and bring back what we found out to the president of the United States and then go from there."

Always safe to say rod is parroting russian talking points, pretty much without fail. Doubtful he'll ever be able to reflect on that

Right, we'll see how this unravels, but i believe peace will be along these lines, certainly never NATO for Ukraine.

This is a perfect example of why Ukraine should join NATO if they choose to.

Right, after losing part of the country to Russia, it would be crazy for them to join an alliance that will resist future incursions.

That's not of they should join NATO or not , it's because us or eu will not allow it.

Europeans need to keep a close eye on American force posture in Europe. Hegseth says no plans to cut, but that should not be taken for granted. Even before Trump, the United States has been shifting its emphasis towards the Indo-Pacific. I posted a talk two years ago about how Europe needs to wake up to American disinterest and get serious about defeating Russia. Ukraine can still defeat Putin with European assistance. British general Sir Richard Barrons explains how at a forum in Lucerne, Switzerland: "Do not tell me its unaffordable, because you represent an economy of 15 trillion euros a year. Give me 75 billion euros a year for 2-3 years and I will make the Ukrainian army win."

Sounds like the Europeans aren't blindly going along with American surrender to the enemy. They're demanding seats at the "peace" talks for themselves and Ukraine.

Hopefully Europe steps up when Trump surrenders. Ukraine is still willing to fight for their freedom and would rather be at war than be subjugated / enslaved under Russia.

I don't think Europe has any choice but to step up. Trump and Hegseth made it clear that even our oldest and best allies in Europe can't depend on our promises or security agreements anymore. No nation should take us at our word anymore because, sadly, Trumps word is our word now and his hasn't ever been worth much. And it will all make the world a less safe place.
