This is a fun thread.
I love seeing tarantula hawks. They look like fairies when flying. They’re fun to try to follow and watch them inspect different little burrows.
The boyz hanging out.

We’ve had this little guy hanging out in our yard the past couple of nights.

Those guys are such a weird mix of cute and gross - from afar it looks cute, furry, nice big ears and all. Get closer and see the sickly tail, beedi eyes, weird nose structure, rat mouth complete with fangs. Such oddballs.
Right? Fascinating creatures. Our dog is on house arrest after her surgery so nature is creeping back into our yard without our sentry system.
She was pissed she couldn’t come meet this little guy but I don’t think she’d hold her own against its mom right now.

What the fuck is that "thing"?
Copperhead moms and dads had a busy winter. Can’t really make out the markings on the last pic, but they’re there.

I recently saw a Bobcat carrying some dinner into the woods, away from me. My first ever wild cat sighting. The only sound it made was jumping down from a tree. It then slinked silently into the trees. So cool. Didn’t know we had them here, but have since heard of a couple other sightings in the area.
I found this guy's channel a few years ago. He intentionally gets stung by all sorts of critters for our entertainment. Seems like he often has to piss them off to get them to sting.

Yeah it's cool seeing stuff like that especially when you aren't expecting it. The one I saw was less than a mile from I-5 and the beach. In the 90s and early 2000s there was a mtn lion that was regularly spotted in this same canyon.
Nearly stepped on this guy next to a hiking trail today. Spent 5 minutes tossing small rocks and sticks to get him to move along which only resulted in him moving up the trail closer to us. Decided we should scwack around as he seemed to be pretty stubborn and was 3-4” in diameter. Attachment 462150

Not sure they’re wild at this point.
Prolly domesticated.
Baby coyote on the trail last night. Backed off and even stopped to give it space to get off the trail but it just kept running forward.

Veritable wildlife explosion in suburbia.
My yard had been overrun with rabbits
and chipmunks. Looked out the window
the other day and saw this red fox snoozing.
First time seeing one in my yard. Not so many
rabbits and chipmunks any more.
