Great show!
MC just kept expounding on how much they missed
playing for live audiences.
Thanks for the report, shred.
Syd Straw joined Jim Keller and his band for a few numbers at a friend’s party last night. Their cover of Lucinda Williams “Changed the Locks” was a highlight.

Attachment 383829 Rebelution at Marymoor last night. Good vibes! Get out and see them
Black Crowes at Red Rocks last night was a long time in the making but ended up being a damn fine set. Almost 2 hours going through Shake and then a collection of many usual suspects. Enjoyed enough to forget to take a pic.
Ska night at the Ogden last night.

Syd’s a good shit. She lived a town over from me so we would run into her regularly.
Hiss Golden Messenger’s New England tour was as a solo act and Mike played the final 2 shows at my friends’ house this afternoon. We stayed for both. What a song writer and story teller.

Ford Amp Friday. Much better than expected
Just saw my first live music since the pandemic started. Stanley Jordan channeling Jimi Hendrix at Dimitrious Jazz Alley. Pretty freakin awesome show. Jordan would slip in and out of various styles sometimes directly channeling Jimi then going into his double tap technique then bluesy then even some sounds that crossed over into jam band like Phish or art rock/fusion like Yes or Mahavishnu orchestra but always staying in the overall context of the base Jimi song.
The highlight was definitely his rendition of Angel. That was a pretty incredible 10 or so minutes of sound.
Stanley Jordan is a next level guitar god.
Saw him with Phil Lesh on a Halloween run at the Cap a few years back. He’s a genius

Thanks to bottleman, Mrs. P and I saw Hot Tuna last Tuesday. For 77 & 80, Jack and Jorma looked and sounded great. David Bromberg Quintet opened and his voice was still strong but his guitar playing is slipping.

If you were wondering what I am doing Friday before I fly to CO to ski on Sat I would say the same thing I was doing this weekend 3 years ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtJbfeYbdLs
If you dont have time for the whole thing, just hit the 12 minute mark, sit back and enjoy
cannot fkn wait
Saw the Young Guns tour in Reno a few days ago, my first live music in 2 1/2 years!
Not crazy about the kid's voice, not bad or annoying, just kinda plain and doesn't fit the music well IMO. Didn't play any VH tunes, all originals except for a nice cover of Them Bones.
I really dug the opener, kind of a harder rockin', more guitar driven Crowes.
Saw Christone Kingfish Ingram tonight in Boston, that guy is from somewhere else. Amazing. I really hope I'm wrong but I get a strong feeling he won't be with us long, go see him ASAP. Seriously.
Some people put these up already. Hey Joe was the encore and the only cover if you can call it one

Venue had sound problems all night, which blew, but whatever. The Berklee College of Music Performance Center, you'd think of all places they'd have the sound dialed, but nope.
that guy is amazing
23 years old. Unreal. And he's from Clarksdale MS, where Robert Johnson's Crossroads is, literally the birthplace of the Blues. So fitting. If he just sang he'd be great, but the guitar is otherworldly. Searing. Soaring. Except when it's super quiet and precise and meditative. He made sounds last night I've never heard a guitar make before.
Those two songs ^^ probably had the best sound quality of the night, the solo acoustic while the band took a break, and then they messed with some stuff before the encore so it was better than the rest of the show.
