Reasonably soft up high but there was definitely a bulletproof layer in there on everything south facing and everything below mid-mountain (where it apparently rained pretty hard on Friday).
Forecast is looking pretty good this week, though.

Thanks, Root
Ended up missing it and wasn't sure if I needed to live a life of regret yesterday or not.
No, you definitely don't need to live a life of regret. Meadows was boot deep dust on crust. They groomed Longhorn, so that made finishing the lap nice. It didn't snow. If fact, it was partly sunny. Hoping the rest of this storm materializes.
Root, were those your Lhasas I saw outside the bar?
Woot Woot!!!
So glad my temp job ended.
That was one of the best ski days of my life.

I'm having difficulty rallying today (getting older sucks sometimes). Oh well I can always find some afternoon leavings.
It sucked. Well, it wasn't so bad, I just wasn't feeling the rain crust. Or rather, I didn't have anything left after top-to-bottom deep pow all day yesterday.
It rained up there today?
Mrs. FOS said there was a notable crust, albeit not terrible, but still there. Any confirmations? I'll be up there first thingy tomorrow morn cooking bacon in line.
Yes. It almost seemed like when windblown snow turns to crud after the sun comes out, except I don't think the sun came out last night. Someone would have noticed something like that.
So yeah, some kind of hard crust of varying constancy on top and a little bit of pow underneath. A lot in some places. Seems like Nut trees hardly got touched since we were all doing full vert runs yesterday.
wide spread sublimation.
Is that like from the fog?

Upper half of Lolo Pass was nice yesterday. Bottom half had that underlying crust. I need some fatter skis so I stop submarining and tweaking my ankles/knees.
yes - fatter skis! And while snowbowl continues on with their angry inch, I made it up lolo pass yesterday for some steep and deep turns in the crystal amphitheater. First time there and was thoroughly impressed. I'd seen photos of the boulder field/rock garden run and did not believe it could have been as nice as it was. The skin was nice and non-technical, the first run was steeper than I had imagined, and the next run skiiers' left of the first was nicely gladed and consistent. Great day in the backcountry after a week off from riding lastweek's supersleeper Tuesday.
Now for more snow
mtskier's shop has the ultimate fat ski hookup...

^^Yes. Oh yes.
Anyone been up to Lolo lately?
Monoskis: All of the disadvantages of skiing. All of the disadvantages of boarding. None of the advantages of either.
You know what I really wanna see? Someone slide a rail on a mono. That would be awesome. Much better than the normal not being able to click in on steep traverses, being able to get stuck like a boarder and not even wear comfortable boots, etc, etc.
Yes!
Just got back from Disco. Was nice.
Dude with a shitzu in his jacket and a mast mounted gopro pointing back at him and his dog was awesome. I'm told he's a regular. I had to stop and ask him about his dog. She had a little helmet too! Bridget was having the time of her life.
The mast mounted gopro is priceless. It looks like you're ready to hook up to a tanker aircraft and midair refuel.
On second though, it was probably a toy poodle or schnauzer.
Whats up with Mill creek rd. Aka mt hwy 569 this time of year? Thinking of headin up to LT and Disco next month to pork yer goods!
