Haha I'm not going to disagree with that. I don't mind brushy trails in the backcountry, it's to be expected. But it sucks on local trails when you're constantly getting raked by brush. We have a lot of stuff like thistle that comes in so you'll finish a ride itching like crazy sometimes.Quote:

Yeah the hedge trimmer is for brush. We have a lot of tall brush here with woody stalks. The hedge trimmer works great on that stuff. I used a Stihl combi with string trimmer head and metal blades a couple months back. It didn't do well with anything with woody stems thicker than 1/4" or so. But it destroys soft brush and grass - which is what hedge trimmers struggle with more.
I’ll chime in that a hedge trimmer is way easier to cary in on a bike than a gas string trimmer. Though my Ryobi battery trimmer breaks in two, which isn’t perfect, but is the difference between hiking and riding in.

I was wanting to get a string trimmer since the ryobi hedge trimmer struggles with thick tall grass. But the stihl cuts through everything like butter. It is significantly heavier and longer than the ryoby trimmer though. Not sure I'll be able to ride with it comfortably unless I can carry it upright rather than blades down, which seems to be how the Dakine pack is designed.
This came in yesterday, psyched to swap the Pike for it! Kinda bummed it's not matte black like its big brother the Mezzer, at least they ship it with stealth black decals.

This fucker came back from Suspension Syndicate after service + replacement of the eyelet and rebound knob. I'm annoyed that my $400 Mara Pro feels 98% as good as what is now a >$1500 shock...

Keen to hear your impressions of the mattoc on the little bike! Love how my shortened 36 rides on my own little bike, but def overkill 80% or more of the time too.
Hopefully I can let you know after the weekend. Going from 150 Pike to 140 Mattoc should shave a few grams and a bit less flex but mostly I'm keen on that 2nd + air chamber and what it means in terms of support. I'd occasionally find myself in undesirable situations with the Pike on slow deep hits, came way too close to a few OTBs treating that fork like a mini-Mezzer. Hopefully that's what the Mattoc is, and if it lives up to my expectations I'll race you down Baby Thunder again and hopefully see your back wheel for more than 15 seconds...Quote:

It's gets really immersive because there's motors that rumble the whole rig based on engine rpm, hitting curbs, gear shifts, etc. Force Feedback on the wheel leaves your shoulders tired.

That Bianchi is gorgeous! Road disc brakes are overrated unless you're riding in the rain all the time, and your bike is 300+g lighter.
Everyone knows the most important upgrade you can make is a flashy, but inconvenient to install, stem.

I have a few different AliExpress rotors, including some floating ones. They are totally fine! Friends don't let friends buy $60 brake rotors.

I have two V2’s and one v3, and I can’t tell much difference in function so far, perhaps the v3 is easier to activate).
I am buying another v3 though. Tonight I ham-fisted a divot into a new One-up carbon bar, bad enough that I won’t be able to shred without being afraid of snappage. (I accidentally used a bolt that was about 2.5-3mm too long for the dropper clamp, oopsy). Expensive mistake.
decided to try that new Aspen ST tire for a couple XC races coming up, after putting it on and seeing the profile I'm just a wee bit scared to say the least haha
I haven’t ridden the ST, but rode some Aspens for Telluride 100 last year. Surprisingly fun. Wicked fast. I used a Tubolight insert and ran about 18psi. I should sign up for an event to justify putting them back on. Haha.Quote:

Running a tubolight as well, and it’s only on the rear so nothing crazy, still have a Rekon on the front for some traction. I don’t mind having little traction in the rear, sliding out a lot can sometimes help with two wheel drifts, or at least in my head it does…Quote:

Did my first ride today on my new (to me) 2021 Santa Cruz Tallboy. I’ve been looking for a while, and finally found a great deal for one lightly used and tricked out (Shimano XT brakes and drivetrain, We are One rims, Industry 9 hubs, Fox Factory suspension with Grip 2 damper, Fox post, etc.) exactly as I would have done myself. Rode my favourite local loop, and wasn’t disappointed.
