SO awhile back there were 3 BIG stems down on a trail up high so buddy cuts 2 and runs out of battery, has to come back, that stem sits there for another week but if I had my sthil I could have easily cut out all 3 but it wasnt my show

My milwaukee electric chainsaw has a 12 Amp hour battery, which converts to 216 watt hours. Cutting bigger trees, I can definitely run through that whole battery. Plugging that thing into an ebike battery sounds like a good way to finish the ride on a 50 lb bike with a dead battery.

Sorry. I didn't mean to drop a deuce in the pool. What's made this place mostly cool for decades is feeling like we have an actual online community where we can fling shit and talk to each other like we are sitting on the ski lift or hanging on the tailgate. When it starts to feel like the rest of the dumpster fire internet and people get emboldened by the keyboard, I rally. Whether I'm the target at hand or not.

Back to E Bike batteries. I think E bikes are amazing as a tool. Until Rideit brought it up, I had not thought about the bike battery powering other things like tools. That seems like a opportunity. Yellow and Red and the aftermarket have all types of adapters for the battery platforms. For a while, Dewalt was making an AC adapter that plugged into the tool. So, perhaps the similar concept that was DC with one end going to the bike battery and the other end going to the cordless tool of your choice?

Carrying a chainsaw sounds complicated and heavy. Won’t work for people on a regular bike either.

The solution seems to be a chainsaw blade with a through axel and cassette attached to it to allow you to pedal power the chainsaw. Ebikes could use their existing motor and battery. People on regular bikes could cut as far as they have energy for. Balancing would be hard until you have a cut established but with some practice it it’s a simple lightweight solution.

Totally enjoy this type of riding, opening trails early in the season. Or going on a mission post storm. Also toying w/ the idea of a battery chainsaw to open some seldom used singletrack near my house.

the good thing with the overpriced boutique pruning saw is that it only weighs 1 lb but it cuts some pretty big stuff so I got it in the pack all the time instead of having to come back packing in the heavy equipment, most of the time an overpriced boutique pruning saw is all that is needed

also in a popular area there might be 30 people who will cut a deadfall so I packed in the heavy equipment last month on a record setting hot day for nothing cuz somebody else got to it

SO I got on the Slack app with the local trail adopters its being used to report maintenance issues, if you see something wrong report it on your phone, or cut it or commit to bringing in a saw if its too big, cut it out and update slack when its done all in real time so we are on top of it

Not a chainsaw, but new bike day. Dentist-level stuff, but thankfully still in pro-deal land so the sting wasn't so bad... First time installing a full tailored "Ride Wrap" kit. Not sure it is worth the faff, and still a couple bubbles in the wrap that I know will drive me crazy... but hopefully the frame protection is worth it in the long run - especially for resale value!

Now to get riding it!

try popping the bubbles with a pin or exacto then press out the air, you might try some heat from a heat gun of hair dryer or even hot water and the spray bottle with alcohol/water

I've done 3 bikes with the 25$ roll of 3M and it must be worth it ... cuz i've done 3 bikes

my 3 yr old bullit looks pretty good and what I notice is that wherever I took a hit the film got scuffed off but not the paint so looking close the film on the hit might be a little ragged but without the film I think I would be seeing the black carbon under the paint

I want a battery-free chainsaw that only cuts down misunderstood sarcasm .

I think a ebike battery might be a touch small to justify a V2L adapter. They come with EVs and can juice up house appliances in a pinch, maybe with an ebike they could do well charging phones?

I've got one of the big Silky Saws and two small (12" and 18") electrics with a couple batteries. Works great for this sort of thing. Light and quiet.

I’m loving my 10” Corona. $29 on Amazon vs $60 for the 240mm Silky.
I’m less concerned with how well crafted the saw is and more concerned with replacing it after I abuse the shit out of the blade.
I also have a Ryobi 18v Sawzall with a bunch of different battery sizes. If I could pop one of those batteries in for extra distance on my Ebike, I’d be so fucking happy.

Yesturday with the BIGBOY I had a 10" blowdown cut/ thrown / back on the bike before the motor timed off, I like the fast

I don't mind paying for best, I did forestry research where we cut a lot of trees with Fiskar hand saws, 2264 saw cuts which was tedious

+1 for spending more on a bigboy, worked all season with fiskars and the bigboy is so much faster for trees

The project was killing " Juveniles in the understory " so they were < 4 meters with the Fiskars and that actualy worked ok

but now its anything < chainsaw diameter so the best seems like ... the best

I havent seen that Corona product around, no idea how it performs or if it stays sharp

I picked up a "gravel" saddle from Ergon to try, which has essentially nearly identical shape/profile as the SM Enduro I have and like, but with a fancy foam bead core and a bit more flex to it. The SME is great for rides up to 2 hours but the other weekend when I was out for several hours, my sit bones were not pleased. I figure it's worth a shot, even though I'm sure my bike is going to explode since I put a gravel saddle on an enduro bike.

I haven't ever used any of the silky, but have had a few Coronas which are pretty hard to beat for the price. I've used my 8" for well above what they're recommended for several years. I did just bend the tip a bit, but that was definitely more user error and pushing it way beyond it's intended design.

The builder pack arrived a couple weeks ago, and picked up the Stihl trimmer yesterday after finding a shop that still has a bunch of gas powered tools. Stoked!

Love the pack. Carries everything so much better than my old top loader.

I've run this trimmer before. After being limited by battery life each work session up til now this will be nice to work with

yeah I just got my 40L builder pack last month, I have ridden it up the bluff a couple of times with my 261 , it sure makes carrying the saw much less shitty, almost fun, it would be nice to have a little more support around the hip belt but its ok. So did you have trouble finding it cuz my local Dakine dealer couldn't get one but we found it on-line in Quebec, if you check online it appears like Dakine is getting out of them ?? IME Dakine makes real quality stuff, it almost felt like a crime to get it dirty

Is that hedge trimmer for brush ? the local MBA has a lot of all gas powered tools, they just use a big string type trimmer with a blade
