Regardless of UKR NATO membership and how his blunder has strengthened NATO, and the bullshit quasi-GOP posturing against Western woke values enhanced by craven religious leaders, it’s always seemed to me that a thriving Ukraine making strides toward a legal and governance system that kept corruption to a low level (say, Germany’s) would be an existential threat to Putin’s carefully crafted oligarchy.
Russia just threw a missile at Odessa and missed barely.

After the interview Dmitry Medvedev gave a speech saying the concept of an independent Ukrainian identity must "disappear for good." Putin reiterated the point in another interview just last week.
As for peace, the Kremlin is already setting the stage for war in another European country. Russian foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Galuzin also recently used the same rhetoric against Moldova as they did against Ukraine before the February 24, 2022 unprovoked military invasion to threaten & destabilize the country in order prevent its integration into the EU.
Because an ‘independent’ Ukraine means a Ukraine loaded with NATO nukes pointed at Russia. Imagine if Russia set up nukes all over Canada and Mexico. Would America be the war mongers if they pushed back?Quote:
