Does anyone know how your supposed to attach the ATK leash to the “speed toe” ?
I bought a pair of the new Haute Routes. They come with the same leash the old ones had, including the little puck to attach it, and instructions showing the old toe lever.
Yet, the new lockout lever doesn’t fit the puck, and the fixed biner prevents girth hitching it.

A friend night the atk 13 raider evo, mounted it with great care, added the spacers.
He had come out of the binding a number of times on groomers. Front and rear set at 13.
Anyone had this problem?

Did they set all three RV screw? I see people forget the vertical release all the time (its a P2 under the heel risers). Is the Freeride spacer setup to tight to their boot? Toe/Heel alignment perfect? The raider is an excellent binding, but the setup is extremely finicky.
What is the consensus on the freeride spacer(AL13) gap size?
This, I bet vertical release is not set. Carpet testing should make this obvious, a good exercise in any touring boot imo. Give one some proprioception oh release characteristics.Quote:

Even so, 8 is not that low, i didn't think he would come out. And he came out vertically, his toe was still in.

I’ve only come out of the heel vertically one time and concluded that it was probably user error. I think I must have had a ball of snow built up in the corner between the brake and the heel tower that was small enough to let me step in and feel nearly normal but big enough to prevent full pin seating in the heel. I lifted the heel on my first turn in some heavy “pow”, laid down on my hip and watched my ski head for the bottom of the hill.
Release values on touring bindings are not the same as alpine, only a superficial relationship at best.Quote:

I skied with my friend today and he had all three adjustments at 12, he's 180, and came out of one ski, no fall, no reason to release.

I gotta say I’m digging my Free Raider Evo - I like how they ski, and they’re the easiest bindings to get into - I’ve tried to get in without cleaning off boots and bindings of snow just to test em out and they just click right in - super happy

Ive got the 2025 Raider SL 12 on my lighter skis and the Raider 13 Evo on another pair. I ski at release value of 10. Cant really tell the difference to be honest. The ski crampon holder of the SL needed a bit of massaging the first couple of times (with ATK crampons) but worked fine when I needed them to work in the field. I havent had the SL bindings release intentionally or otherwise.Quote:

Hoping the experts at TGR can give me some advice here. I have the newer Moment branded ATK’s with the adjustable toe release and auto brakes, the 13 version. I’ve skied them in the resort the past two days to shake out some touring boot issues before a big trip. One ski released vertically from the heel, once each day, same ski. One time was on a icy-ish groomer, and the next time was in soft over frozen crud. Skiing at a decent clip, but definitely just skiing along, not trying to drive them like a resort set up or anything.</p>

Both times it was the downhill ski at the completion of a turn. Luckily the toe didn't release and I was able to stand on the heel and lock back down, but the sudden free heel mode was disconcerting to say the least. I spent time on Google and the first step was to check and make sure there wasn't ice built up on the free ride spacer. No ice build up. Next check was to make sure the spacers had the proper clearance, so I did the paper test. </p>

I wasn't able to pull out a piece of paper so I removed a shim. Still couldn't pull out the paper so removed another shim. After the third try I finally got down and looked and I had clearance but the paper was contacting the brake/boot interface before the spacer. So I replaced the spacers as they were originally and I could pull the paper out from under the boot if I manually held down the brake. I assume that the brake takes so little pressure to depress that it's not causing much influence? </p>

So, seems that there is enough space between the free ride spacers and the boot, per ATK there should be enough room to pull the paper, check. Next, I have the vertical release set the same on both bindings, 10 vertical and 9 lateral. I normally ski an STH heel at 9-10ish and a Pivot at 8ish, so that seemed reasonable. But I realize these aren't DIN spec bindings and that it's just a number. So could this be as easy as cranking up to 11? Anyone have any correlation on what DIN they run on these vs other bindings? This would seem like a no brainer but only happened on one ski, but sample of 2 isn't large. </p>

we don’t hear about stuff like that with ATK at the shop I work at - it sounds to me like you’re doing everything right
are you sure that your toes are mounted straight and that the heel lines up properly? ATK will tell you that most unexpected releases are due to binding misalignment
are you doing your own mounting?
some shops are official ATK service centers - they have techs who’ve done ATK training - our local rep can do service
I was gonna say, how straight is your mount ?
1: unscrew your toes and put glue in the holes
2: screw the toes back in almost but not all the way - keep em a little loose so the toes can wiggle
3: put your boot toes in the pins and lock the toes
4: put your heels into the pins
5: tighten the front toe screws with the boot in the binding almost all the way tight
6: unlock the toes and release the boot from the binding
7: tighten all four toe screws
8: go skiing
Just checked and the mount looks completely straight. I’d post photos but….TGR. I did notice that no matter if I have the left or right boots clicked in, the inside edge of the ski is the side that barely touches the free ride spacer. The outside edge has more space under the boot/spacer. This is either ski with either boots. Boots are ZGTP. Does that mean the sole isn’t completely flat?
Also, noticed that I only had maybe 3mm space between the heel piece and boot on the ski that released. I used the 4mm spacer and backed them out some. Could it be they just flexed out and popped out?

ATK will tell you that the biggest challenge is making sure that bindings function properly with a wide variety of boots

I found that the newer Evo models I've had to bump up the din and reduce the gap a little...the older ones skied very true to din IMO but the newer ones seem to pop easier....idk?
One of my friends had the 13 evo and he pre releases at the heel almost every day. He set the vertical at 13.
I suspect there is a design issue with the cams that facilitate the entry.
He's a very strong skier, weighs 175, former fis racer.
He locks the toes do the ski stays on, but we ski together some steep, no fall allowed, couloirs and he lost confidence.

Check your Freeride spacer - (according to the manual) in order to avoid prereleases you need at least 1mm clearance and I do recommend to verify it with a feeler gauge.
Did your friend ever take them to a shop and have the function varified? Did they ever reach out to ATK directly? Dropping in with your anecdotal there must be a design issue when 95% of people ski these bindings hard without pre-releasing makes it seem like you are just here to complain without looking a real solution. Tell your friend to email ATK, he might have to send the bindings off but if he already lost confidence then what is the problem??Quote:
