^^^Bikeslacking, good sh!t.
I agree completely. Particularly because within a few miles of there, the USFS has allowed biking on the Catamount and there are multiple class 4 roads that would have provided a similar experience. I mean, hell, there is a sanctioned gravel ride in town every Fall with maps available on RWGPS.
Not mine but here a cheap used Brooks B17 if anyone is looking.

Anyone have light recommendations?
This girl got a tear down, rebuild and race prep for Kansas this upcoming weekend.
Rolling fast, ready to rip. Even prepared a kaso dipped chain to install just for race day. Attachment 417798
Won't need more much more than 2 hrs on a regular basis, but the ability to plug into an external battery, or swap in a spare would be nice I guess.
I'll mostly ride smooth double and single track around my house. Some paved paths and roads and dirt rounds. I just threw away a close-to-useless old road bike light. I also have a 500ish lumen headlamp that helps but I'd like something brighter on the bars.

I’m likely in the minority but I’ve been using sub-$25 Shenkey 1000 lumen lights for several years for late-Fall mtb riding technical single track and on gravel rides all year long.

I like my Lezyne 1600 on the bar and Multi on the helmet. Programmable settings are sweet so you don't have to scroll through so many modes. I mostly ride in the ~800 lumen modes on mtb singletrack, and way less on wider sections/climbs. The batteries last many hours at like 300 lumens.
Random gravel bike thought as I watch Lael Wilcox’s Arizona trail video….how much do you think she makes from her sponsorships now? She doesn’t capitalize on youtube videos so it is probably mostly from sponsors
(maybe her wife does youtube now since she is the cinematographer)
Ps I know she doesn’t give a sh*t but just curious
I've been getting out after work this week. This ride was so good yesterday I did it again today-

Hard to say from sponsorships. Specialized is the big one, I only see a couple others like Revelate and Rapha. Spec might provide a salary but more likely just bikes and gear. Hard to say. She does sell articles/ event writeups to publications so that could be some decent income since she's always travelling and doing events. I'd bet she gets her travel expenses paid by organizers for a lot of the events she goes to. Besides that I think they live pretty cheaply.
Less then a week out from my start for the Tour Divide race. Feeling ready to tackle it. The course has a ton of snow on the northern passes. I've been contemplating creating some milk crate snow shoes (idea from Cy). Or, holding back more than planned to let others create the trail.
Goal is 25 days or less. I'll finish, as I'm retired and have the time. You can follow along on www.trackleaders.com (when they open the link up for the TD). Look for T.Anderson
Thanks to everyone for the advice on the bike setup, especially to get the fast wheels on it. I'm near 46lbs before food and water. I'll send home the colder weather gear as I move south. I'll also add bottle cages to the fork as I get to the dry sections.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...810c98382e.jpg

^^^^^^ Sick! Good luck to you.
Look for "Bikes of the Tour Divide" on bikepacking.com by next weekend. That will get you a decent list.
Then on the trackleaders.com page, you'll see a list of those taking. I'm expecting 200 or so...lots of pentup demand, especially from overseas.
BTW - as a longtime dot watcher. My tip is to keep a tab open during work to check progress on the race, then refresh whenever and see the progress. You can also rewind and play it back to see how long into the night the leaders ride (crazy peeps).
