Lost lad is also dry. Someone did some work in the gully and it is running really well with a few new jumps/improved take offs for some of the small drops.
Bountiful B is good to go. Also, I’ve been doing some work on the lower half so things are less chossy and rutted than usual.
Evo is blowing out some demo bikes, they have one medium revel rail with xt and fox factory for $2400

I had my bike stolen from out of my carport this afternoon. Millcreek adjacent.
Black Santa Cruz Bantam, single pivot 27.5. Pike and x2, skinny gravel tires, and an orange Thule baby seat on the front.
Sonofa! So sorry to hear that. It takes a special breed of cretin to steal a bike with baby seat on it.
Damn, that sucks.
anyone know if the Pan Am course at soldier hollow is set to pre ride?
Stunningly gorgeous out today.
Last storm people couldn't hold their horses and trashed shoreline trail from dry Creek to bobsled. C'mon motherfuckers. If it's muddy, DONT FUCKING GO!
That section is in terrible shape.

Speaking of which I rode Shoreline to Bobsled for the first time yesterday. What an absolute blast - though no jumping rusted out cars for me.
Can’t believe it took me this long. Stupid fun.
I'm in Fruita and working my way back to Missoula this week. Plans are Fruita Tues, Weds, maybe Rabbit Valley Thurs, Klondike Bluffs Friday. I'll pivot and head to Moab if I get bored or weather forces a move.
I'm thinking of hitting the Supercross race in SLC on Saturday night (also weather dependent) - I could ride something in SLC area on Saturday morning.
Is there something along the way, or local that I should hit to experience the area? Or, just hit another day down south before I head up.
I hope Grand Junction is included in your agenda. Lunch loops are better than anything at 18 rd, Mac/Loma, or Rabbit Valley IMO. I’d put Palisade Rim up there too even though it’s short.
As far as in-between, the Pahvant/Spinal Tap system in Richfield is awesome. Enquire locally for a shuttle for Spinal Tap, the crown of the system. Not sure if they’re getting this weather as much as we are but the top of that is pretty high and north facing. Things are well saturated here with lingering snow in the foothills but TS is right, looks dry and warm all week.
Lunch loops was stop #1. I remember Holy Cross being easier 10yrs ago. Of course, I was younger and less risk adverse riding with a group.
Thanks for the other suggestions, I'll research.
FWIW I'm not a big Rabbit Valley fan compared to the other stuff on your list.
Agreed. It's flat. Cool scenery and "out there" feel though.
Rabbit Valley is more of a fond memories ride for me. I think it was the first big loop I did along the river with amazing friends and views.
Any specific trails or locations in the SLC metro area that I should look at? More of an xc guy, I can hit most drops, but I'm not looking for dh specific riding. This is a fitness building trip.
I'm partial to Draper for XC riding, but it's also wicked close to the house. It's a choose your own adventure type of trail system. You could be out for 40 minutes or 4 hours. LMK if you need some specific recommendations. I'll probably be down there around the noon hour.

^^^2nd that
Draper has great trails but I rarely go there as I get a fake vibe out there. I'd recommend doing Lost lad and bobsled in one ride if you want fitness and great downhills. Bobsled has a rep for downhillers but it's jumps all have ride-arounds and the fun part is the banked turns for 95% of the riders. A strong intermediate can easily do Bobsled. Probably the best dry trail around here and a classic.
I'm not going to defend Draper, but I'm going to shit on Bobsled. Unless you're there to get footy for the boys, it's just a garbage trail. There's a reason it's called "junk ditch." If you want jank, there's plenty above that without having to deal with brake bumped berms, sandy washes and all the beaters.
I have never met anyone who hasn't loved that trail or called it junk ditch, in 20 years of living here.
I am not surprised, of anyone who posts here, you don't like it.
OK.
When I moved to SLC back in the 26", v-brake, over inflated xc race tire weight weenie days, I thought I was hot shit. Ate shit bigtime on the old entrance.
Bunch of trees/branches down at elevations low enough for leaves and high enough for much snow.
We are lucky to have amazing XC riding above downtown and in Draper. I love Bobsled in the spring and fall when there is some moisture in the dirt, one of the most unique trails I have ever ridden. If I had to pick my favorite XC riding in the Wasatch it would probably be the stuff around Orem but I'm weird.
I like riding bobsled, and I like 19th Ave, they makeup my startard little ride from home loop, and sometimes twin peaks, but that shit is steep getting up there.
Dry Creek to twin, to 19th, and back up to bobsled and home.
Good riding.
Lost lad is fun too...
Bobsled is infested with Myrtle Spurge, on top of rusty cars, makes it really exciting these days.
It's overrated, I used to love it. I appreciate it for what it is and how quick one can spin an afternoon lap if needed, but the ride arounds and 'B' lines down low are no longer dirt or sandy, but full on sketchy ball bearings. I had not ridden in since 2021, and rode it last week, probably won't ride it again in the near future.
That being said. lots of really great 'xc' riding on shoreline with some fun descents and ways to link up some really big rides if you want!
delete-duplicate
Myrtle Spurge is infesting the entire Wasatch front. Rusty cars has jumps over them - to someone who has never ridden it you are making it sound unrideable.
Everyone has different tastes, you can dislike anything I don't care, but remember your first time down it? That's the experience I'm suggesting to lowagriz. I'm not suggesting it from a jaded local perspective, which I am too, who has done it many times.
Again, if it ain't yer cup of tea, so be it. I think starting from the zoo, going up dry creek, down Bobsled, up to Lost Lad and back up to BST and direct back to the zoo is great ride for a presumably first time biker in SLC, and not that controversial?
Here's where Lowagriz chimes in how he's ridden bobsled a bunch and hates it in 3, 2, 1....
Bobsled’s a literal junk ditch and it’s fucking awesome! Ridden it a dozen times already this season. IDK what you beaters are talking about it. Go fast in the top then hit the sweet jumps, what’s not to love? It’s a city treasure and we’re blessed by our dark lord to have it. Hail Satan!
I’m solidly Gen X. There’s only one person talkin like a boomer here and it ain’t me. :the_finge:the_finge:the_finge
Bobsled’s a little haggard these days with all the traffic but that’s part of the fun. The main line and the jumps are still good. I honestly don’t see how the spurge affects the riding experience in the least though? The whole SLC Shoreline in infested with that shit. Dry Creek is probably the epicenter.
I've never ridden in the SLC area, so I'm open to some fun times.
Supercross is in Rice Eccles, so I don't want to go north of that and have to backtrack. Bobsled sounds like a fun experience.
Is anyone going to the SX race?
Regardless of my jaded bullshit, ride bobsled, you'll have fun. you can even park for the SX race and ride to/from your vehicle and not have to move it for the event.
Beware the spurge: It poses a danger to people because of its caustic, latex sap, which causes nausea, vomiting and diarrhea when ingested. The sap can cause blindness if it gets in people's eyes. Skin contact with sap causes redness, swelling and blisters.
