https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgFFc8Gu6og April 15, 2011. Mission. Lots of people hitting the fresh at Mission these days and I think that is alright!
I can remember Lowell Skoog posting during the 2004/2005 season that “hopefully we would have many fine seasons in the years going forward” or something to that effect. The turns-all-year crew….Philfort, Markharf, Charles, Lowell Skoog, etc. went down to visit the NWAC. It was a wetter than wet day. While we were there with Garth and probably the older guy (Moore?) the dude from Mt. Baker called to see what this incoming storm was going to do. He’s the father of the gal that runs it now. There were actually people taking advantage of the unprecedented winter access to places like Bedal Peak and I think Philfort might have just done some couloir in the North Cascades which might still be a secret. The Baker guy was Duncan Howitt. Or something like that. It was so wet. Markharf got in an accident in the U-district. We all ate like at a Thai restaurant on the Ave I think.

I had another memory from the ‘04/‘05 season. Emphasis on memory. As in we’re going from what is inside my head……So as I said we were at the NWAC when it finally started snowing late during ski season. I say late because I think we had a fair amount of snow in September. I think we were skiing powder at Steven’s in September (going from my memory here). So yeah then a major drought and then it snows pretty heavily. Then someone on TAY proposes that we need a nice Pineapple Express to come through and consolidate the snow pack. Well they got their wish and more as pretty much all the new snow was washed away and then another drought after that. I think that TAY person is still on here. Maybe he’s an Astrophysicist or something like that. He was not popular for a while.
I laughed.
A couple years ago my wife and I ran in to some hunters at the Pete Lake TH. They had just been up at the Esmeralda TH and bailed because of the cars parked miles down the road. They were confused about what was going on but had figured out it was all about "some kinda yellow tree called a barch". Felt pretty funny trying to explain "barch madness" to a couple uninitiated midwesterners.
I took my daughter to backpack to Ingalls Lake on Friday evening. We were able to park at the trailhead, but there close to 100 hikers coming down as we were going up. Saturday morning was insane. We got up for sunrise and had the lake to ourselves for almost 2hrs. After that, it was non stop people. Hundreds coming up as we were heading down. Cars were parked on the road to the De Roux campsite over 2mi from the trailhead by noon. It's beautiful, but not worth that craziness. Just proved the rule that you just need to get there early. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...672f4056d8.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...642a003d9b.jpg

04/05 I don’t think Stevens opened? I do know the only skiing in WA was at Mission for a while just chair 1 and chair 4 to the mid station offload. It started snowing after they closed in mid March and snowed a lot. I remember skiing deep cold snow the first week of April all the way from the summit to the lot.
