Thing I liked from that, didn't know about, is around the 3:00 mark of the video, two things on the back of her helmet:
1: "ABFTTB": always be faster than the boys
2: "Be nice. Think first. Have fun."
(Semi)-related but looks like Mike Day landed on his feet:
He's the new head of the Mount Mansfield program.
Mikaela is on the Tonight Show this evening...

Vote early, vote often for best FM athlete
She's also in a record breaking category with 87 WC wins

Seems like Shiffrin and Mahommes should both take home 2 awards
She won an ESPY. Her acceptance speech was, as always, humble and heartfelt.

Win #89 in the slalom at Levi, Finland, although it was due to the leader Vhlova straddling a gate on her second run.
Shiffrin’s publicist Megan Harrod shared in an email to the Vail Daily that Shiffrin “sustained a significant bone bruise to her tibial plateau but stability and ligaments are all perfectly intact.”
shhhhhh! gotta keep it on the dl...
So that is what she was referencing with her comments on "the last 11(?) days have been challenging". She posted herself icing the knee post race on Instagram

She had an MRI and they were legit worried she’d messed it up, dodged a bullet. Amazing she was able to win even if it was really because Petra skied out.

The first one is Rudolph
Just an amazing skier. From the very beginning she had a turn like no other.
Does anybody have a link to Shiffrin freeskiing, bumps or steeps?
I'm geeking out right now on Deb Armstrong vids. Ski racer -> psia, working well for me early season on the manmade snow. Also watching the racer kids, love how they ski.
She is the best. Her videos gave me the tools I needed to get my girl over some humps.

hey, Mir, I don't think your going to find much footage of MS skiing bumps or steeps -
I've seen a couple of clips as she is skiing toward a training course, or away from a training course,
But as a five events racer, and from what I have read, MS's skiing is pretty-much All-Business. !
I have seen some clips of her training SuperG or DH were she takes significant Air, and thought,
' You Go ! (Girl) ! !! '
And
from what I have read, she is very approachable and accommodating for kids...
If I can find some of that Speed event training tomorrow, I'll try to post a link.
' hope your season is off to a good start !

2022. World Cup Finals Downhill. This wins set her up to win the Overall World Cup for 2022; This was a Special run

I keep turning this statement over in my mind, I am very curious, specifically why and how she is different? I'm watching footage, but I don't have any eye for racer nuances. I learned how to do movement analysis on recreational skiers, which is fun and easy from the chairlift, haha. The only thing I can really see easily with the racer kids is different degrees of lateral extension.
TY for the links skiJ, will watch. I already watched the first one, my reaction was "smoove".
Currently still working through Moving Right Along on youtube, pretty fascinating. She has a SWEET house in Edwards where she only lives for two months, it's basically for her family and her trophies and medals. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gTOs0luzHY
3rd in the GS today. looking forward to the slalom

I think the best difference is to watch her from the side. She is never unbalanced. Always centered with incredibly precise forward movements for initiation and heel pressure for acceleration at the end. Always in control
The main thing that distinguishes her IMO is consistency. Always in control, always balanced, always making precise turns. Especially important in SL where there’s two runs and a ton of gates - lots of opportunities to make a mistake.
Such an incredibly smooth second run for Shiffrin. The crowd cheering her to the finish was loud as shit - has to just jack her up.
