I jumped on the sale this weekend and emotionally purchased the last pair of Woodsman 92 Ripper Concepts. Now I am low-key freaking out that they will have no edge hold on firmer snow after reading around. I am seeing some talk about switching to a 1/2 bevel - is that the move right out of the gate? Or is this just a bunch of nonsense and I should give the stock tune a shot first? Not looking for Kendo edge hold here, but I do not want to wash out either!
Are you saying the am100 should be in the category of lacking edge hold? Or category of a 100ish with good edge hold ?Quote:

Picked up a pair of woodsman 100s at the end of this season and skied closing weekend at Blackcomb on them (mostly with kids, so not a perfect test). Initial impressions were very positive, a very intuitive and fun, good suspension, pretty high speed limit and surprisingly maneuverable. It was very easy to break the tail free in a good way. Edge grip seemed ok/good, but it was pretty slushy so nothing to really get a great feel. I’m pretty certain they will see a lot of time at Alpy next year.Quote:

I haven’t been on am100 but am sure they have solid edge grip, the fl105s I had were the opposite of the woods 102s in edge grip as in too much not too little. I was putting them in the conversation about a no new snow daily driver for the Pnw.
Chillax man - it is a 92mm underfoot ski with a pretty traditional if still somewhat progressive/modern shape - they will ski all but boilerplate (where titanal skis will have stronger edge hold) more than well enough. It could be that you would need to do some minor tweaks to the detuning or have them retuned to fit your requirements (or if the tune is wonky as can happen from all manufacturers), but I would not sweat it - ski them like they are out of the wrapper and take it from there. For a comparision, I moved my pair of jeff100 ripper rockers on after working on the tune a bit, but that was due to the ski's geometry and thus how they skied not being quite what I was looking for (the same story with my HL AM100s), not due to lack of edge hold. Dynastar M-Free 100s were my jam. Both AM100s and Jeff100rrs are good skis, great for the right skier.Quote:

Spring was definitely the most frustrating time with the C98s, so thats some good feedback. I will be keeping an eye out for a pair now.

After i demoed my knee last winter i lent my asym BG's to a buddy. He skis on an ul fat ski with dynafits and a skinny touring ski w atk. The BG's with pivots melted his mind i think. He's on the lookout for 179ish bg's or steeples of any vintage now if anyome is looking to unload or update their BG

Grinch I may be moving on from my 179 BG116s, Pivots for 295mm on the line, no other mounts, but I won’t have a better sense of that until the North American season gets rolling. They ski well and were immediately confidence inspiring for me to send some chutes and cliffs on my second run, but they could use a bit more detuning to loosen the tails even more in Oregon thicc pow.Quote:
