My physician basically told me, "you'll figure it out." Best advice EVER!
One massive thing I give my kids credit for is getting ME back on skis for real; the joy of seeing them progress on the snow is unmatched and is bringing my spouse around to the notion of winter being good. My wife is barely interested in snow; I'm somewhat shocked that she followed her sister to Alaska (whereas I grew up here and was more-than-likely at Alyeska as a kid with your wife on varying weekends throughout junior high and high school).
I always swore I wouldn't marry someone who didn't ski, and yet I did, so my snow-sports were largely curtailed after we started dating. When my son was in kindergarten I said, "f-it, we're going to Hilltop!" and busted out my broken Volant Machetes. His not-yet-three-year-old sister didn't want to get left behind. Now I have two little groms who LOVE skiing!
Speaking of which, it's late and I'm being a bad dad. I'm going to have my son watch the 7 steps with me while my daughter sleeps on the couch next to us.
