ON3P SKIS Discussion

Gotta love the C&Ds rocker profile.. i feel like my 2017s have even more rocker up front than my 2016 193s did, and the same or less in back. The tip rocker starts underneath the toepiece. Amazing craftsmanship, as usual from the On3p crew.

That rocker profile is nuts. I think I'm going to have to buy a pair next season, for those 3 days a season I'd feel I actually need a tool like this. :D

Right! Its totally worth it, just looking at them gives you a pants tent too. They have some of the highest sex appeal of any ski IMO.

The other days you use BGs and Wrens/Kartels...

That rocker looks almost exactly like the 202 L138 R2, my favorite pow ski of all time. Interesting.

Ive seen you post a few times hinting some interest in the C&D.. you should get one for research purposes

Theres a 191 demo on their main website.

With two pairs of extra-stiff 191 BGs and the aforementioned 202 L138, I have exactly zero need for the C&D. And so, SO much more gear I want that doesn't overlap gear I own.

But if Scott wants to send me a pair, I'm all ears. ;)

For sure, I could see in your video you were not used to them. A couple more days on them and you will make them look good. That and steeper terrain. Too bad there are not more days that require a ski like the C&D

Having said that, I finally got a few hours in on some 193 Cease & Desists (that used to belong to PowTron by way of SierraSkier) and it was an interesting experience. When you're moving slowly, they feel heavy and sluggish / hard on the legs. But once you get them moving they don't feel heavy at all and with the RES sidecut and all of that tip rocker they pivot extremely quickly and were way better in the trees than I ever expected. I was worried 193cm would be too much for my 5' 11" / 175 pound frame but they honestly didn't feel that long. It was windy so I had to bail on Squaw and went to Northstar, and there's nothing steeper than maybe 33-35 degrees so I never found their speed limit, but I'm fairly confident you'd have to be going pretty damn fast to find it. I'd love to take these things cat skiing or up to AK next season if I get the chance. I did find myself scrubbing more speed than I intended and feel like I need another day or two on them to "learn" to ski them properly, if that makes sense.

Damn! I loved those skis. Glad they are still making the rounds.

They do take some time getting used to them, but as you noticed at speed they are very easy to ski.

The updated versions are lighter, slightly narrower, and a hair shorter...but have the same rocker profile.

I was a little off my game getting used to the skis so that exaggerated it, but yes, it's a bad habit I need to clean up.

Just got a pair of 191 Billy Goat tours from 2014. They seem a little burlier than 189 steeple 112s, which is nice. And thats after these have been skied a bunch, broken in. Cant believe how good of shape they are in.

I thought the steeple 112s were great at more moderate speeds, and super quick in trees, with better float than regular BGs. It will be fun to compare these BG tours to my C&Ds.

Now I just need that 193 stiff tail BG to cover the other end of the spectrum. Any more details on the tail of this ski will be greatly appreciated.

Pulled the trigger on Kartel 108 and they look super sexy, can't wait to try them!

BTW, are ON3Ps usually oversized? I've measured mine 186cm with the tape and they are actually 189 measuring from tip to tail at the base. They are virtually identical to my 190 Bibbys, just couple mm difference

On3p measure straight pull tip to tail and are normally a few mm over their stated length. Other manufacturers measure along the surface and hence are actually a lot shorter. But the kartel shouldn't measure 189 tip to tail. I think you have a faulty measuring tape.

He measured along the base, i.e. Material length. But otherwise this is correct. Hope you enjoy em!

190 bibbys measure closer to 188cm, and 186 kartels measure closer to 187cm. Thats normal.

I got a chance to ski Slot Couloir off Mt Snoqualmie the other week in near perfect spring pow conditions. I've been wanting this line in that condition since two years ago, when I first skied Slot. 1200 ft, 35-40 degrees of Cascade goodness.

Wren 108's in a 184. These things are a charge machine. What a ski.

Looking for advice here: would Wren 98 would be a good replacement for mine SN100 as a DD? Got Steeple 112 for those good days and touring and want something narrower for east coast and when the snow gets packed. I'm 6.3, 185lbs. Thank you.
