I had a plan to run up Phelps Creek and drop over Spider Gap into Holden late this summer, but smoke and scheduling got in the way. I might still try and squeeze in a quick day up there if the weather holds. Those pics are definitely helping with my motivation.

Try the Carne High Route. Great way to get a loop and walk up Maude. Larches are fantastic this time of year and the views of Clark/Dakobed/Buck and Chiwawa ridge are amazing.

I was actually just talking about Carne with a friend this weekend. I’ll be up there sometime in the next few weeks if the weather holds and I can get some free time in my schedule. Phelps Creek area is amazing but even for me in Plain it’s a bit of a hike to get out there for a day trip between work and life.

I never spent much time up there, I live in Wenatchee, but sweetbippy has an old family cabin on Cedar Brae and it’s made it a lot more convenient. I’ve really fallen in love with that whole area over the last five years. Even from the lake it’s 50 minutes to Trinity.

The pic I posted was from 10/13 last year. We’re debating doing that next week or a couple days up around Big Jim/Augusta.

Hey hikers polluting the skiers thread, I want to do a 1-day jaunt from Chatter Creek TH through to the backside of Stevens via Frosty Pass, Doelle, and Chain Lakes. I'd love to find some like-minded party interested in going the other way to minimize the car shuttle hours consumed. General idea would be to meet at Coles Corner in the early, swap cars, and go our opposite ways. Oct 7-9 are all possible for me. This is around 22 miles, ~6k' vertical, most of it near or above treeline. Let me know here or via PM if interested.

You could try to get on the community shuttle for PCT through hikers Stevens to Leavenworth. Leavenworth Shuttles will take you to Chatter Creek from Leavenworth for $84 for two people.

Alternatively, you could start at Stevens and finish by continuing from Ladies Pass on the Icicle Ridge trail to Leavenworth and find a ride back to Stevens. I know a few people that have done that.

Nice. I'm here full time if you ever want to link up.

I did Lake Augusta earlier this summer, and the Hatchery Creek entrance was a slog. The road was pretty beat up, and we stopped counting downed trees after around 60. It opens up once you crest the ridge and was smooth sailing from there, but we were so far behind schedule that we didn't even attempt to head up Big Jim.

This was pretty much the trail conditions we were dealing with:

The lake was pretty spectacular though. I'm lazy enough that I like to get home and sleep in my own bed, but I could have been happy staying by that lake for a while.

Magnificent already covered it, but I typically hear of people doing it in the opposite direction and finishing via Icicle Creek. The Leavenworth shuttles should be able to get you there. You could drop some bikes to reduce time on feet.

I'd typically be interested but I'm either out of town or have family in town for the next 3-4 weeks so my days are going to be limited.

I’ve been to Augusta/Big Jim/Lou several times. Last September sweetbippy counted 400+ blow downs between the trailhead and Falls Creek basin.
