Agree with CMsummit....we got KILLED all of December and the first of the year. Since the mid of January, we have continued with some moisture but the temps have been very mild. March can go either way, we'll see what happens. Until then, the snow in the valley is melting out fast and that makes walking in this brace easier for me.

I somehow don't buy the possibility of six generations of Coloradoan, but i guess its possible (Interior Secretary Salazar is a fifth generation Coloradoan and can trace his heritage back to the conquistadores, FWIW).

Bringing this thread back to topic, the new 6-10 and 8-14 day looks ridiculously promising with a ton of cold air and lots of moisture and dynamics.

'ridiculously promising' = good news considering most of the positive news in the last month hasn't panned out. It's definitely overdue...

As long as there is moisture too. The last thing we need after days of being in the 50s is cold and dry air.

I missed you. I love the throwing out of "conquistadores" in a response. This begs the question....why are you researching Salazar back to the conquistadores?

We should all know that a major pattern break is due....and when the cold weather returns...it will feel REALLY cold thanks to days like today.

Our former Senator's familial history is actually quite fascinating, FWIW.

Yeah, me too- I knocked out about 15-16 miles and around 2500 vert. I can't complain... although I'd rather be skiing 10" of pow.

Yes, this sucks guys....even more so for you folks who drive to ski, but its not over yet. I have skied a foot of fresh in May. Relax. The pow will come.

I am just glad I am not too cool to go have fun in the park on these sunny days.

Yes! you should because last year was Great! One of the best years imaginable for a time to move out to Colorado. It's kind of like when I arrived in Fort Collins, CO fall of 1994, just in time to see Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead at McNichols Arena. Arena shows aren't the best, but there's never been another chance to see Jerry in Colorado in the 15 years I've been out here. Last years powder year was a special one to experience.

There were some lean years before that. But I'm gonna shut my mouth and let others complain about this warm February. My memories of lean years are so bad I don't want to remind mother nature. I'm a zero generation Coloradoan and Montana can come over and kick my shin if I forget to keep my posting silent about leaner years (just talking/thinking/posting about bad snow years makes me feel superstitious ;)

I would have preferred record breaking shitty snow for my first year, every year after that would seem great.

Yeah last year was my first year in CO... and didn't really know that it was an epic year for snow. I was used to seeing 100"+ base at Mt. Baker and not in the 60s or 70s. So naturally I'm a little distraught about this year. Now I will just compare every year I stay here to the 07-08 season. But hey... I'll take this over upstate New York where I grew up any day

base depths have little to do with total snowfall...snow density has lots to do with depth.

Funny you mentioned this - just a few days ago I was thinking about the 3rd show, and I rummaged through the ol' tape collection and listened to the first set. Sugaree and Bird Song were excellent! Actually a really good show all around.

I'll have to look for that show online sometime, don't remember too much about that night. I'm sure it was a good night in Fort Fun :tongue: Proud to hear there's another tape user around. I'm slowly but surely burning my old bootlegs up in the car, great for nostalgia!
