Due to previous mount conflicts I have ASYM's currently at +1, I wouldn't recommend it compared to on the line. Knowing how on the line felt +1 forces me to be a little more aware of my balance and a bit more at risk of going over the handle bars. Maybe it wouldn't be as bad if I didn't have muscle memory of how they skied before. For reference I ski wildcat 108s on the line as an all mountain, so it's not like I'm used to only traditional mounted skis.
Sounds like pretty classic BG. I doubt if I've got the skill to tell the difference between the different model years anyways.Quote:

Anyone ride a pair of Billy Goat 108/110 in the resort? After some trial and error I've found that I have a slight preference to widths closer to 110mm as opposed to 120mm when skiing PNW powder. Wondering if I should custom order BG 108s or just roll with stock 118s.
I have been using BG110s in stock layup for a few years as my primary soft snow ski, basically anything more than 4in and thats what I grab by default. Never ridden bigger brother so can't compare, but i don't remember many times when it didn't feel like enough ski and that includes a lot of AK storm days with heavy maritime snow. They are surprisingly decent once you hit groomers back to the lift assuming it isn't complete boilerplate, which is nice too.
I’ve been skiing skinny Billy’s for over 6 years. A couple 108s and now the 110s (custom). I’ve also had normal BGs along side them in the rack. Skiing around the NW I find it to be the perfect shape and size to handle most days where you’d grab your soft snow boards. I’m on them 6:1 over the fatter pair.
Perhaps put a feeler out to see if someone wants to give up theirs - but I would not hesitate to order new with stock layup either. Custom discount is still listed on site. For me the B110 in 187 is the primo size.

I was wondering if I would be sacrificing too much float by not choosing the 118 width. Seems like that’s a non-issue?
Seems like the 108 is a bit more versatile and is still enough on a powder day at the resort.
I will ask folks at the factory what they think, too.
I talked with them when I was trying to decide between the 110 and 118, and they pushed me towards the 110 unless I planned to only use it for super deep days. They basically said the 110 would be more versatile as a daily and really be fine in anything less than 30in.
Added a J118 in touring layup late last season as well, but that was more an impulse buy and wanting a touring pow ski than necessarily wanting more float than the BG110 was giving.
I guess if I wasnt a kook I would probably have a full weight J118 and a touring weight skinny goat, but I'm happy with it.
I haven’t skied the skinny goats but as a big guy if I don’t want the 118s I want a ski without res that’s going to be better in firm spots. Mine are supergoats so an older shape but they are very much make it back to the lift on firm not rip turns.
I love them in anything 3d and they crush chop like a steamroller going over a gummy bear but versatile is not part of the picture.

The 110 floats as well if not better due to notch in tail Quicker and more directional than 116 I don’t think the narrow ski is any different Better on groomers also since it’s narrower That shape is money but with std layupQuote:

I actually mentioned this to Iggy as a big underlying reason for ordering those new BG108 Tours. I am very BG108 stock as DD curious as well.

Found these for a great deal (sans bindings) on marketplace. Already had WD110 setup for alpine, excited to see how the tour layup feels to tele on. They feel a bit softer (?) but I could just be making things up.

The RR was very nice to me, The tip was much more engaged when tipped over on groomers, and flat hard snow. While maintaining the compliance in shit fuck conditions off piste. On the Woodsman as a platform, at least in the 100 width. I got a lot of OG Vicik vibes. The tail is noticable in that it is there and supportive, especially coming from a Jeffrey. But it didn't feel like I couldn't dump the tails when I wanted, and didn't punish me when I got lazy. I really enjoyed myself on that ski, and brought back a lot of stoke.
FWIW. When I brought the demo's back to the factory, I left with a pair of Woodsman 100 ripper concepts.
I’ve been thinking of trying to add a more dedicated frontside ski (since I can’t find a pair of skinnier wrens anywhere) by doing a custom Woodsman 92 with ripper rocker and stiffer layup, so I appreciate this insight.
