Most insane show I have ever seen with regard to moshpit/crowd/chaos was Primus in Tijuana in 1991 or 92. I will be at one of their upcoming Sacramento shows. Recent shows I have caught, Sturgill, Sierra Ferrell, Hermanos Gutierrez, Morrissey. Seeing Jack white and Goose next week

Yeah, finally a venue is trying to get a summer lineup to look forward to. Oddly, some of those have already been big headliners here.

Primus opened for LBD all stars in the new Snow King center back in 1996?
Anyone go to the Tom Petty show in the base area parking lot? That was stellar.
Violent Femmes in the Snow King Ballroom? That was almost too much, what with the acid and all.

Wife and I saw Petty at the Fillmore West in 1997 during his "residency" there. Best concert experience I have ever had, by a long shot. We also saw him in 2014 (late Sep/early Oct) in the rain - also a fantastic show. Tom and the Heartbreakers were consummate entertainers...Quote:

I've told this story before sorry - The night before or after that Willie did a private JXN show to raise money for something or other at the Jackson Land and Cattle Ranch. The Montana and Wyoming governor were there, the MT governor Brian was a real cowboy and put on a show roping and cutting. After the horsie show and a nice lil' dinner Willie came in (very late) for an hour-ish outdoor concert and maybe a hundred or so people were there, sitting on hay bales as he played under the stars. I was working the stage event and not the fundraising part so I got to watch the entire show. He's pretty decent!
And the dude still jams at ninety two!
I saw Willie kick a free show at the Bay Street Tower Records in San Francisco in the early 1990s.
He was rad.
Dunno why I never saw him live again after that.
My Outlaw Country/Real Country regrets:
I never saw Johnny Cash (dunno why I skipped his Fillmore American Recordings shows in SF when I lived there).
I never saw Kris Kristofferson.
I never saw Buck Owens at his Crystal Palace in Bakersfield (and I had several offers to do so, but passed on all of them).
I did manage to interview Merle Haggard for a now defunct skate mag and then saw him live at a rickety old auditorium in San Francisco. He was a cool cat..
And I managed to see Shooter Jennings a coupla times. When he’s in Country mode he rocks. Never saw his pops or his mom, though…
These SF shows seem to be a money grab, but the city fees are probably thru the roof. Who knows.
Had three friends try to get tics today to no avail. Ticketmaster still sucks.
People pay what they deserve to pay for Dead & Slow.
Not sure about the city fees since they are piggy backing off outside lands infrastructure. If anything, it felt like the city was cutting them some slack for the anniversary and that it wasn’t a concert set up from scratch but idkQuote:

Ugh, I missed out! Another JXN concert story from me - I had tix to see the White Stripes at Snow King in 2007 and they cancelled it for Megs anxiety attacks. They only played together once on Conan after that, no more concerts, they never made another album, and eventually they broke up due to her anxiety.Quote:

We just bought the tix when they came on pre-sale. Our friends went both nights. The second night (our night) was better apparently. Channel 24 is a killer venue. I never wear earplugs. I wish I had a pair.

Got free tickets to see Ryan Adams on the Heartbreaker tour. We havent been listening to him much since the allegations but couldn't resist free and that he was playing Heartbreaker, a great album. Venue was about a third empty and I expected him to be appreciative of the fans that showed up to support him in a dicey time. Instead, it was a giant FU to the audience and a freaking trainwreck of a show.
The first set was most of the Heartbreaker album - but he pulled a Dylan and the songs were unrecognizable. He went on a rant about how the first set was for us (?) but he would do whatever he wanted in the second set. Which would have been fine, but was mostly self indulgent BS. He did a really bad rendition of Over the Rainbow and had non-stop rants (against music industry, how much of a victim he is, etc.), begging for money, and chastising the audience for calling out song requests or for leaving early. The dude spent more time talking than playing and it got real frustrating.
We finally left after he told an antecdote where Dylan supposedly told him he (RA) was the true master. The best song of the night was Bartering Lines where he brought in the bass player from Cannibal Corpse and drummer was the merch guy. It was a pretty sick groove actually, but didn't make up for the rest of the night.Despite free tickets I left feeling I was due a refund. One of the worst shows I have ever been to.
Fans yelling for for him to sing Summer of 69 and him get pissed was a top tier troll

Ministry was a good entertaining show and my first at Mission ballroom. That place is great! Especially the VIP. Lots of industrial black leather freaks in the crowd. Ministry played a lot of their old library that I hadn't heard in years, if every. Sat next to an old Japanese lady from Lakewood who was a superfan. I had to explain that I was just a casual fan and she was perplexed. haha. They ended with a song or two from their more modern stuff, like GDWT which was cool. KMFDM was a good opening act.

2 of my fave live bands. Ministry1992 Lollapalooza - Louder than anyone by far. Epic. KMFDM - Lucia is a smokeshow too.

I saw them on a bill with Korn and Kid Rock once.
Limp Bizkit seems kind of an odd pairing (though the one time I saw LB they brought the heat and were surprisingly taut)…
I heard LB was pretty good these days. I'd love to see Pantera, even if not with Metallica.
Limp Bizkit was surprisingly awesome. I was disappointed that Corey Feldman didn't make the trip though ;). My daughter wanted to see them and was not disappointed. I think there is some sort of history there with Metallica.
The opening act before them, Ice Nine Kills, we missed. Apparently they do some sort of serial killer performance art act. I have heard of them, but didn't worry about getting there early to see them the first night.
Suicidal makes sense since Rob started with them, and his son is now the bassist. Pantera, well who wouldn't want them to open for you?
I just remembered that back in the day Fred Durst and LB were pro Napster and Metallica sued Napster, so their sharing a bill seems kinda odd in a way…

The Napster thing actually made me hate Metallica for about 20 years, but I have come back around. Still like their old stuff and their new stuff is better than a lot of new music from other bands, so not that bad if you take it as a separate genre of music. Lars has always been a fuck nugget. Probably one of the most punchable faces in rock'n'roll. haha. James is a good dude. I have met him breifly and he lives around here. Lots of funny stories from friends who have met him but he keeps a low profile. BTW great pics Warthog, did you take those?
