damn, that second pic looks dope. Where in UT is that?
I think I'm going to be in Moab from the 8th to the 10th with a buddy, but he's heading on to cali and I was thinking about checking out a little bit more of UT on my way home to CO.
We should have a maggot dirt bike summit in ootah this summer. Anyone else down?
Gramps bought my 250x and today was his first ride. Did a mellow 100 mile west desert loop. Good times.

So maybe it's the lousy quality that makes this such a masterpiece:

Or maybe it's the ginormous balls, or the disregard for any human life?
^^
that's some pretty relaxed riding.. and insane
and.. got to see the whole fucking thing cause, like, it's on you tube?
More desert porn........
Started out the day with a bike that was jetted for lower elevation but figured it had worked fine for the past 240 miles, so why not squeak in one more ride before rejetting. The morning plan was a 250 mile loop, things started out well enough, but a sputter at mid to upper throttle was occurring. Maybe it will go away, or..........

Maybe it will kill the engine. 20 miles in, sputter, sputter, dead. I cut a hole in the side panel to get more air to lean out the mixture. Didn't work. Checked the plug, black. Moved the needle clip from 3rd to 2nd position to lean it out. Bike fired and I rode it back.

I decided to stop in the local shop to see if they had any jets. Sure enough, so I bought four of them just for the hell of it and rejetted the bike in the parking lot.

This is my ride in ozyland. Can you imagine commuting on this beast starting work at 4am then driving interstate rigs and not having driven a car for months. 1981 Ducati 900ss I have owned since 1996. The X and her mother used to nag me to sell it, and then one day I said to her " I was in love with this bike long before you were on the scene and I'll be in love with it long after your gone!!!" and she never said another word on the subject, and it proved true.
sorry its not a better photo but my other laptop shit itself, or I fucked it.

FKNA!!! 2008 Buell 1125r IS MINE!!!!!
Well hot damn, that is one sexy lookin bike! Nice Tipp!
She's real nice Tipp. Any concerns buying an orphaned bike?
Just that she may not have been as chaste as one would hope... ;)
No - the Motor Company has already announced that they'll support Buells as far as service for the foreseeable future, and there is a very thriving aftermarket. As www.AmericanSportbike.com points out:Quote:
There are still aftermarket parts suppliers out there for vintage BSA and Triumph motorcycles, and they haven't been built for almost 40 years. We'll be here for you for some time to come.
that's some sweetness Tipp!!
A little late I know (I dont read all the threads here), but I had that exact same bike here in Japan back in the day. FKNA that bike would shoot off the line! That was a fun bike.
Trackhead, your photos are sweet!! Loving going through all these pages seeing different tours. Ive been in Japan over a decade and never had the chance to go out west, but your pics are making me want to get there some time! Cheers!
After dabbling my toes in the offroad scenery of Utah last fall on my V-Strom, along with the drool inspring TRs of Trackhead, I added new horse to the stable recently.

I know, I know - way too clean but I had just washed it and I'm still in the honeymoon phase. It's a 2004 Suzuki DRZ 400s with 5k miles that I picked up down in SLC a few weeks ago. Last week I managed to put knobbies on it without too much self-abuse and the 4gal tank and skid plate are coming this week. Hopefully I'll figure out the jetting/carb adjustment soon, too, since most of the riding around here is above 6000'.
A friend and I are headed down to Utah for week to do some adventuring. Being a offroad noob, I'm still figuring everything out both in terms of gear and technique. If there are any maggs in the Jackson/Utah area who don't mind dragging a newbie around, give me a holler. I don't mind trailering the bike down to SLC/Moab/UT/Idaho/etc for a weekend, either. I'm also open to suggestions for non-gnar rides down in the Swell or Moab that would be fun for my June trip.
Damn you, Trackhead, and this slippery slope of backcountry moto adventure. Hopefully I'll have some amusing TRs in the months to come. Vroom!
