I mounted on the line, and I wouldnt change a thing. I also didn’t detune them whatsoever, and loved the factory tune.
I think -8cm skis great. You either can lean into them, or you can lighten up your feet and ski slightly more centered. They float great at that mount point.
I haven’t tried them anywhere else but the recommended line, but they have a large sweet spot. I could see going back -1cm and not having any issues.

I'm partial to the cherry veneer myself. The guy builds a beautiful ski if you can get beyond the paralysis by analysis that comes with having so many shapes, and options per shape.
Sounds like a good one to me. Think the only rule on veneer is to choose a hard wood.

Sooooooo much bite on firm snow! I loved it. I didnt feel any negative effects of the sharp edges when on weird crusts or in super heavy snow. They never felt edge grabby or edge hooky or whatever its called. Whereas my Kartel 116s needed to be detuned quite a bit at those more dramatic taper points, and felt very grabby until I dulled them.Quote:

These skis are super durable too. I hit a lot of shit with mine, and they look great lol. How many days do you have on yours Flowing Alpy?? I plan on keeping these for a while. I might experiment with a #5 heavy plus carbon the season after next, since Keith told me that’s the layup a lot of the team are riding for stiff but poppy.

Got my 192 protests. Have shifts coming but can’t decide if these are the right ski or not. Too many differing opinions on mount point for me to make up my my mind so I may just mount with demos to find my sweet spot and then remount alpine next year. Thoughts? Attachment 241686
Guess it depends where you ski and your usage and where you mount your skis. I have plans for a pair(or fat wootest) with shifts at -1.5 . I’ve had 2 pair of protests mounted there and wouldn’t change it. FTR my gpo, piste jibs, and concepts are mounted -1(still more centred than a lot of other companies skis but no over the bars feeling and can charge or pivot)

I asked Keith for slightly softer than the full 5. I love the rounded blunt tip, it reminds me of a race ski. I'm done with the super tapered skis; that's never a tip I'm going to be able to drive in a real turn, even if it is powder.
They're going to see some action in South America very soon.

I have major problems with some taper designs. Others not so much. I dont know what to look for when buying a heavily tapered ski, to tell whether I’ll like it or not. Now I just dont buy until I demo.Quote:

I have the regular Rx and am on the list of curious on the skinny version.
The regular rx is almost a pintail and close enough to start feeling some of the characteristics. Waist is 116mm, and tail is 128mm. I consider a pintail anything with less than 10mm difference between waist and tail. So the skinny Rx would be 106mm waist and 118mm tail. I have never skied something like that, and am curious. I dont notice pintail problems on ice as much as some others do, so I’m sure I’d like it.
