Was snowing without sticking all evening at 6500 in TD but turned to rain again when I left at 9...

temp finally dropped - dumping at 6500’ TD
Anyone know how it did down further south? Kirkwood base cam showed it puking last night but doesn't look anywhere close to 2-3' accumulated by this AM.
My sources tell me 12” of new snow up high at kwood
That aligns with what I've been told.
A good start, cause that was all base snow falling.

Cams look to be ramping back up again. Radar shows a huge cell coming through the foothills now that hit us in the E Bay about 90 mins ago. Looks a bit North right now but we may get lucky and catch the southern tail in the next hour or so. LFG!
I just drove through it on 80 and holy shit it was pouring, so that bodes well.
Today was much better at alpine. Was even able to take whiskey up past the top of the old lower 40 platter for a tour first

Donner Summit would be kinda cool
Today was really fun on the summit. Took out my rock skis and never hit rocks. Lots of free refills. Tomorrow should be fun, but busy. Time to spin more chairs. There is plenty of snow.
Got a few laps at Heavenly today. It was great considering it ain't even TDay yet. Looking forward to NV side which I think will be this week. Looking more forwarder to Kirkwood
Got a few laps in at Alpine this morning and some fun fresh turns, but it got crowded quick so bailed after that. This was at 9:35…

Got to imagine that it’s a bit sticky/icky right about now.
I am currently getting “rained” on by roof run-off at New Moon.
When the line at Turbo Weasel got too long at 10, we bailed and went for a scenic picnic ride on the Big Boondoggle. WTF is wrong with the other side? Upper mountain and Mountain Run look like they could go with a little cat work. Apparently without Jimmy King to build roads they are paralyzed over there.
Not even remotely sticky or icky. Went up rubicon to about 8100. It was 32 when I left and 32 when I returned at 1:45. About 4-6” cold snow on minimal base at the lot (gate is open). 6-8” on a 12-18” base up above the snotel

All I heard today was staffing excuses over at alpine. They could have opened roo it looked to my untrained eye. Staffing is the new excuse for everything in Tahoe.Quote:

Took a round trip tour on the gondola this afternoon. Trying to figure out what is going on over at PTSV. Looks like they are blowing Red Dog, and the road is in up KT. Heard some bombs, so control work is underway above 8,000 ft along the ridges, but it didn't appear as though any snow has been made on Gold Coast. I assume they want that open for next weekend. Did Jimmy King retire? If so, I guess no Silverado for sure this season.
From looking at the web cams, I haven't seen them blowing any snow on Gold Coast the last couple weeks.
It's not even TG and that place sounds like a cluster already...
Pesky skiers will just be in the way of the village expansion....?

I like what I'm hearing about new approaches to operations. Also, report from a few weeks ago was very positive on the personnel front.
Once things get going (after Thanksgiving), I will be interested to see if the new blood and direction results in better ops. I'm hopeful...but PE "wallet capture" will be driving many decisions outside of the Mtn Manager's control. Fingers crossed...

Found ~4ft/120 cm consistently from 8,200 to 7,000 ft in the n. facing trees on Donner Summit this weekend. 5in n ski pentration in soft snow on supportable base for rock/shark free confident turns.

Alpine is going to open t2b with Summit and Roundhouse, and P-valley can't get a single lift open on the upper mountain. Somethings not checking out here.
