Ya… I’d like it now.
lol.
I mean right now.
I am in love with mine. But two is better than one.
Some times "better is best".
And sometimes "less is more".
But a simple fact of the universe is that more is ALWAYS more.
Love more

"The tip and tail shapes are revised from semi-circle to snub-nosed, both as an aesthetic choice in keeping with the rest of the lineup and to support increased performance in soft snow."
I've always thought this was just an aesthetic decision, what's the logic behind snubnose increasing performance?
Good Q! two reasons, ranked by importance IMO:
(1) you get a bit of a cutting edge vs the semi circle for wind skin and zipper crust
(2) there is slightly more surface area at the end with the shape as-is, that helps balances out the slightly narrower width at the wide point due to increased taper.
This is subtle stuff of course, and the aesthetic piece is the first thing mentioned in the email for a reason!
Has anyone skied both the HB122 and the Rossi Black Ops 118? I assume the 180cm HB122 floats better than the 186cm BO118 but is less powerful in chop + doesn't carve as well, but would appreciate any real-world comparisons.
Anyone in here looking to offload their one-eighty nine V one’s at the end of the season in preparation for getting a set of V twos’s? Looking to buy a used set, as my student budget doesn’t allow me to buy new skis right now. In no rush to land a pair, but figured I’d put it out here in case anyone is wanting to offload their set either now or once the season is over.

Got a browser window that's been sitting open for the HB 122 v2. Would love to demo a pair sometime this season. Bird pass holder.Currently riding the full reckoner series (102, 112, 122). Any comparisons?
Rode the Reckoner 112 as a daily and loved it up until I got on the Rdimes. Sorry K2 I’m out
^same. Can’t speak about the HB, but reck112 is for sale after skiing the fr110

so what you're saying is I should hold off buying the reckoner KF until I demo the FRs as well. got it.
The reckoner is a tick towards park vs the fr110. It’s lighter and tips are softer for butters, so it’s more playful in that sense. If those are important to you, maybe the reckoner is the better ski for you. Fr is looser, faster, turns on dime, better in chop, and still very very playful on kickers and being slashy, so just a different type of playful

Day 11 on the hb122s
Surfy, pivoty, and extremely well suspended
Not great in chunder but not terrifying either - thank God I haven't skied much chop at all, so I don't have much to form an opinion on
Did great in heavier/sun-affected snow
Really easy to shut down and throw aroundhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...9ec0629d3a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...bceb629a19.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...a4dc4938f4.jpg

Nice!!
OG hellbents were absolutely money in chop. I have no doubt that the HLs are the same. Stay centered and the soft tip does all the work for you.
TGapp, how big are you and you got the 189?
Nice!
maybe I missed this in the thread already but what size pivot brakes are you guys fitting over the 122mm. Do I go 130 or 115?
Strive 115 brakes also work just fine, FWIW.
These showed up today…

Giggity.
I picked up a pair of those last week to put on the same skis. Good choices.
There will be a few of us sporting that combo!
Post it horse!
I am trying, but it appears posting pictures is beyond my pay grade. I will keep working on it.

He-Man. Anyway, that's dope as fuck.
I am starting to eye the HB's. I do not think I am getting on with the FR ST quite like I wanted. I jumped between them and my Renegades this week and the Renegades are just pow missles. A bit lighter on foot and require a bit more active skiing in soft bumps, but they also rail smooth groomers where the ST requires dialing it back. I thought the FR would be my resort preference over the Ren, but the Ren is so drifty and quick in the trees and just rail when it opens up. We have 17 more inches coming this week. I am going to jump back on the ST before I decide if I want to try something else. I am under the impression that the FR is just too rockered for me. I will say, it could easily be the ski I would pick for motorized back country. Heli or cat skiing.
The HL build is second to none. They are so nice to handle and look at. I just need to find the shapes that speak to me.
That's hot.
Really hoping to hear some beta on how the v2 skis, particularly from anyone that's spent time on both. But with the v2 only being the shorter version out in the wild it makes sense no reviews. I had a v1 I've skied once this season because sadly, this just hasn't been the year for me to get out on them. So I sold them (to fund the v2 as I've surely mentioned) to my SIL's boyfriend who's favorite ski of all time was the OG Hell Bent, and then he promptly wadded hisself up and broke a rib the day after he took possession. Something something next season, eh?
The V1 is absolutely insane. Just skied 4 days in a row on them at Targhee and Jackson. I guess I have about 15ish days total on them now. Plenty of deep deep pow and one afternoon at Targhee where the sun kinda came out and it was fall line wide open deep trench chop. Fucking unmatched. Pure weaponry just charging super fast and blasting. Best chop ski I have ever had hands down. In the super deep untracked they go exactly where you want them too and make various densities of snow a joy. I will probably have to pick up a V2 at some point because these are my go to skis for pretty much everything I want to ski with at least a few inches of new snow.
Yesterday at JH was everything from deep cold snow up top to pure melted snow cone down low and they ski that stuff amazingly as well.
I have the HL FR110, R120 and HB 122. All three are pretty damn exceptional skis IMO…the FR110 is special inbounds but the HB122 is so fun too. The HB is great when you have new a fair bit of new snow that will get tracked out quickly or if it warms and the slush is soft and deep.
