Hardline did not disappoint. Great racing.
I think the fact that the Brayton went out first and set such a fast time made the finale far more exciting.
The early riders are trying their hardest to keep up, but their splits keep coming in deeply red and you rarely see anyone upsetting the podium.
Then you get down to the final few riders--the fastest qualifiers--and finally people start coming through with faster splits. Everyone's pumped, the announcers are loving it, the riders *look* fast AF, and each one is faster than the last.
Dunne!!!!

This year felt like some of the better actual racing at a hardline.
It also seems like it's turning into the new retiree racing series where all the older downhill guys go. That used to be enduro, but then enduro got really fast. Then it kinda looked like it was gonna be e-enduro, but most of them aren't willing to stoop that low. Hardline is a great venue for those guys - makes for good racing because those guys are still pretty fast, keeps their sponsors happy, and it means you get a deeper field even though most of the current world cup contenders won't attend (dunne and kerr excepted) because it's too dangerous.

Get them picks in. Vital is open and Pinkbike league is still open.
Pinkbike league in unfunner for me

I like the pinkbike league. Vital ends up with way too big of a team, and not picking until after semis kinda takes a lot of the challenge out of it.
Sure, some of pinkbike's pricing is way off, but the basic premise of how they run their league is better, I think.
On that note, apologies to Cami Balanche for being on my team. I'm guessing that's why she crashed hard in both qualis and semis.

Well that was a race. I don't know who the Kiwi was commenting with Gwinner, but I'm loving him compared with Rick. Fuck, that was refreshing. It's like he's actually a fan of downhill, and actually has something to say, and when he gets excited about something it's not forced.
Yeah Josh made Ric seem like an illiterate layman with no biking experience...lol
I know Josh, solid dude and hope he gets more time in the booth. Few little things to work on, like overtalking the other commentators, but his knowledge about what the riders are doing and picking up the little nuance and mistakes they're making and explaining it to the listener is really good. And his excitement levels are right up there.
Damn dude. That's actually kinda impressive.

Ooops. Forgot to update my team again before the race yesterday. I am the worst at Fantasy lol.
Just about the only good call I made last week was Erice. The Jinx is strong with me.

Dakota or Luca up this week? USA NUMBER ONE!
Gotta get you back to that Ft Bill level of dominance you showed.

We watched Not Done Yet last night. Three thoughts:
1. The filmmakers got an impressive number of interviews for it.
2. I was surprised by how candid it was. Some people were pretty blunt in spots.
3. Ric did a much better job in the film than in the commentary booth.
The commentating is a tough job. I mean how many times and in how many ways can you say, "It's slippery" or "There are still rocks in that rut".
Gwin is doing really well and I like Josh.
Wyn, next in line when he finally retires?
If it stays wet, Val di Sole is gonna produce some mayhem. Always enjoy this track.

I feel like I should be picking more Irish/Scottish/English for Fantasy for this.
Dakota was saying they were supposed to get ridiculous amounts of rain.
BK is out for the weekend... he just posted a bit a go he slid out and hit his head on a rock.

This promises to be a great race. Stoked to see Amaury back to pace.
Pompon has been my favorite female racer for years. My wife teases me about mentionitis. I reply out that she’s the one who traded IG comments with Amaury.
I’m stoked to see her getting back to form too. I was gutted for her 2022 Snowshoe races. So was my wife. She didn’t warm up to Vali until she fell over running her victory lap around the finish area last season.
Yeah, I've never quite gotten on team Vali. She always kinda came across as the female downhill racer version of Ivan Drago (which, I fully acknowledge, is an entirely unfair characterization).
But I'd be psyched for a competitive podium in the women's field. If Vali, Tahnee, Camille, Myriam, Marine, and Nina are all riding well and healthy, it makes for good racing.

The time gap between 1st and 5th in mens and womens was virtually the same. The girls field has really filled in and lots of fast juniors will be joining them soon. Only top ten, or 15, for finals is criminal

Vital league, new strategy. Buy cheap mediocre juniors because of low points for the investment even when they win. Stacked it heavy with chicks because all 10 will definitely get pointz. I've been on Team Vali since she was the OG YT grom before racing world cups.
But I always lean away from Goliath, so haven't touched Loic or Vali all year. Fourth race in a row I'm betting big on Dak. At some point I'll need to tell him that this year is mostly my fault.
I tried that strategy last week with pretty mediocre results. I'm light on juniors this week, heavier on elite men. But yeah, still mostly avoiding the high dollar riders.
Either way about it, I like the vital league that allows for more playing around with the team. And so far at least, the best strategy has proved more elusive than the pinkbike league, at least for me. Which makes it more interesting.

Elli whostheboss indeed. The junior wouldve won elite with her time

so stoked for Amaury in his return to the top step. When that guy is going at his fastest, it's a sight to behold.
Amaury’s post-race interview was hysterical. What a race. I was hoping Dak would hold on, though. And it was neat hearing Gwin root for Pompon as much as we were.
Random thought: imagine how much faster Max Alran will be when he can grow a full mustache.
Fuck. Conflicting emotions. Wanted Dak to win so bad, but Amaury's on my fantasy team(s).
Either way, awesome race. VDS always delivers.
Gwin still solid as a commentator.

Pierron's run was just mental.
Relieved Josh was commentating again.
Super stoked (and gutted) for Dak.
Amazing to see Amaury back doing what only he can do.
Sooo gutted for Jess. She’s been on my team every round that she’s racing and I was sure this would be her day.

When i saw rain in the forecast i was considering the goat. Is he ready?? Sadly i decided itd be too risky this early in his recovery.
Everyone prob had Amaury on their team. What a legend! One for the ages today. Arguably the best. Certainly the best back to back races ever

Pierron. Holy shit.
