They fucking found her:

In Costa Rica, nonetheless. I had a hunch she would flee south but the feds still caught up with her.

You can run, but you can't hide.
Costa Rica? Why the fuk would she go to a place with an extradition agreement?
I’m wondering where she got the fake passport. A fake passport that was able to get through Homeland security and their scanners without being detected. I would like to think those are not easy to come by.
I just read they tracked her down based on where the Carmax check was cashed. The mistakes keep adding up. But at least she got away with a nice 6 weeks vaca in CR.
Glad they caught her.
Hells yeah! Attachment 420335
Wasn’t she also into yoga teaching? I bet she had some yoga connections in Costa Rica (yoga retreats etc)
This article says she had undergone plastic surgery: https://www.velonews.com/news/kaitli...in-costa-rica/
It's been a long time since I have traveled internationally, but how much does TSA check you on outgoing flights? IOW, isn't it the country you enter that does the close scrutiny of passports and such?
TSA checks pretty closely who is getting on the airplane no matter where the fuck it’s going, and the airlines are pretty fanatical about matching passengers and luggage before the plane can depart the terminal.
I know every time I go through there they scan my passport into the computer and then physically checked the passport against my face.
I've actually been to that part of Costa Rica, although 15 years ago now!
Right, but if she had a passport that was a well done fake, one would assume it could be scanned. Or if she had her sisters. I am not sure if scanning pulls up a picture on their screen, do they? I always thought they were checking a) if the name on the ticket and the ID match, and b) if the picture on the ID matches the person in front of them. When I fly (not internationally) and they ask me to pull my mask down, they have my license in their hand and they look at the license and then my face, not a screen and then my face.
What a dummy. She didn't think that they would be able to track the carmax check?
The second you use someone else's ID, its fraudulent....
All modern passports are chipped, and it DOES bring up your biometrics when they scan it, not too mention more data than you think they would have on file as well. All of that info needs to be in the database for it to work, so you are not exactly forging that without some state level hacker skills.
So chances are it was a legit passport that looked close enough like her, that she was able to use. Besides less face it most of those guys checking your passport, are not the most motivated individuals and after seeing a few thousand faces a day, all of them probably start looking the same.
Given that she went to NY first and visited her sister, it may have been her passport. Her sister could be looking at some serious jail time too.
I was surprised none remaining in central or South America
She had to known it was only a matter of time and picked Costa Rica as they have a no capital punishment clause in their extradition treaty with the US it looks like:

Read another article that said she still had a bandage on her nose from surgery when she was caught, told authorities it was from a surfing accident. And, the article alluded to her using someone else's legit passport that bore a striking resemblance to her, but they don't outright say it was her sister's. Yet.
She really thought she could get away with this. What a cunt.
How much different could a nose job make her appear? She should have shaved her head Pedro style and dressed like a dude. Seems like she cashed the Carmax check down there too. Im surprised she was on the run this long with the trail she left.

Glad they got her! She seems to be well above the Vicki Mendoza diagonal on the hot v crazy scale.

In her locker at the Costa Rican hostel they found both hers and her sisters passport, along with a $6350 receipt for cosmetic surgery under a different alias name.
That new nose will look good in prison....
So, she has to fuck up her sisters life as well?
Damn.
It’s almost like she didn’t think this through at all.
Thats and easy defense "She knows where my spare key is, and broke into my house and stole my passport... I don't travel often so I wouldn't have noticed my passport missing."
BUT it's going to be hard to explain driving her to the airport. One anonymous tip was given that it was her sister who dropped her off, and another tip told them she was traveling on her sisters passport.
She was definitely arrogant enough to assume she was home free after 5 weeks on the lam. Just found this in an Fox article:
"She was trying to set up another type of lifestyle." The type of yoga she was studying had some sort of connection to surfing, and it seemed as though she wanted to start teaching, officials said.”
She was so cold and pompous that she murdered that poor girl then fled to start a new hippie-surf-yoga-wellness bullshit lifestyle. I bet she thought she was 100% in the clear when she was busted. Fuck her. I would’ve loved to see the look on her face when she was cuffed.
I hope she was cuffed while at the beach, on a yoga mat, drinking kombucha while eating her vegan, non GMO, organic, fair trade lunch.

So it looks like she flew out to CR on the 14th. Warrant issued 17th. So her sister could get a pass for helping.
It's not surprising that the cops dropped the ball not keeping an eye on her sister... when they weren't even keeping an eye on the drop dead 99.9999% sure fire killer. The incompetence of law enforcement here to allow her to get away so easily is staggering.. Ya, they have the evidence and a solid case.. so why not keep an eye on her and everyone around her better???
Just catching up on this thread. Great news that they got her.
Is it a sure thing that she can’t receive capital punishment as part of the extradition agreement?

Life in jail is still a pretty shitty punishment. With a death sentence she'd be in prison for a couple decades anyways as appeals run their course. At least with life in jail the family isn't subjected to years and years of court proceedings. Not to mention the cost of those to the system. Lock her up and throw away the key.
