Oh sweetie, this old girl is a stoner from way back when she'd buy a lid of Columbia Gold and spend a sunny afternoon cleaning seeds out of it on an upside down Frisbee. I just quit because I really hated smoking and it became hard to get when I moved to W2 but now... now it's a whole new world.
Now you can study strains by place of origin, genotype and phenotype. You can dial in exactly what you want and get the same thing the next time. You want to do some creative writing? Get some Willie Nelson.
Want to go to town cleaning the house? Try some Mother's Helper. Insomnia? A little Blueberry Kush before bed will relax you into a good night's rest. Don't want to get high but need pain relief? ACDC is what you want. Social Anxiety? There's a strain for that. PTSD? Loss of appetite? Nausea from Chemo? It's all there just waiting to help you.
You can smoke it, vape it, rub it on your body or eat it (and know exactly what the content of your edible is). You can even cook with infused butters and oils. It comes in oil, resin, butter, topical salve, tincture, pills, chocolate syrup, coffee, soda, caramels etc. etc. and yes... it still comes in bud only now it's called "flower."
There are tasting notes and reviews and best of all THERE ARE LEGAL STORES WHERE YOU CAN STROLL RIGHT IN AND BUY CANNABIS! It's freakin' crazy and wonderful all at the same time!
Well aren't you nice. You rock too! :yourock:

I have a 4:1 tincture thc:cbd
I’m not convinced cbd do anything really so the thc is nice
The THC is 4 and the CBD is 1?
A lot of what I've read and the industry people I've talked to contend that when it comes to tinctures the carrier oil has a lot to do with how well you absorb the CBD oil. I've used both coconut oil and avocado oil based tinctures. I prefer the avocado oil and get greater relief from that product. Now obviously there are other variables when you're talking about extracts from two different companies but still I believe there is something to how CBD binds to the fatty acids in avocado oil that enhances the bio-availability.
Actually I looked and its 3 THC to 1 CBD. It comes in 450 mg bottles. THC does the heavy lifting. I've done straight CBD and I almost feel like its a placebo affect or hard to detect. The first time I slept really well but then I ate like 200 mg figuring it would be pretty intense and nothing really happened. I dabble here and there with mixed results, I want to believe it does something.
Lol @ "this is not a food" plants are foods sometimes...especially in this case.
I don't really get much from ingestion. Meh.

Is there evidence to support claims that x strain is good for a certain issue? Or is it marketing and placebo effect?

Right now its a bit of hype and some of the claims are over reaching the validity behind them.
Per example. Went to get a tincture for "sleep" for the wife and 2 different products focused on 2 different compound aspects, one says it is the higher CBG in its mix but the other claims it is the entourage from their blend's terpinoid profile.
These ratios and profiles are going to vary significantly strain to strain, also person to person to some extent, route of administration, etc.
Leafly.com is your friend for research on strains. Like Bobby said AC/DC is a known high CBD low THC strain as is Sour Tsunami but per Mofro nothing is set in stone as each grow and batch will have variations in strength and content and then there is the extraction component and carrier/delivery method.
I'm not having a great deal of luck vaping Sour Tsunami. I have to vape a whole lot to get the effects I do with the tincture or a gummie. After a restless sleep the night before where I had only vaped last night I resorted back to my usual bedtime tincture with an added hit of indica tincture and slept like a baby (Fairwinds PM 300 tincture and Fairwinds Lifestyle Indica tincture).
Who knows about the palcebo effect. I believe I went into this experiment with CBD without expectations as I had no clue about it. At first when I was trying different products there were times I felt relief then times I didn't (started with hemp extracted CBD) finally I hit on a product that consistently worked for me. I'm no scientist and just talking out of my backside but I'm kinda thinking that since the vaping didn't do it for me that perhaps I'm not operating on the placebo effect. Does that make sense? Since I'd already had success with other CBD products if it were all in my head wouldn't I have also felt relief from vaping?
I'm thinking of trying some of the Sour Tsunami concentrate on a piece of chocolate tonight and see how that works for me. I'm a guinea pig in my own trial! LOL!
Took long enough for someone to hit on that.
....but seriously, chewing it will just get it all stuck in your teeth and you'll be picking at it for an hour.
I prefer to think of it as long-lasting, time-released, dental microdosing.
Stratos just came out with the best CBD+ Indica tincture for sleep. Absolutely a life saver, barely had any ibuprofen this week and slept so much better every night. Fucking lifesaver and super reasonable price. And it even tastes good!

Yay! This is how I've been with the Fairwinds products for night time. So happy for you!
Are you using the Sleep tablets or the CDB tablets? Oh wait a minute - you said "tincture" and that isn't showing on their web site but I found a review elsewhere. Hate it when these companies act like a bunch of stoners and neglect their web pages

I think it's really new. The budtender had just tried it so I purchased for about $28+tax.
Tried to include a photo but I'm inept!

Bartell's starts selling cannabis products at select locations https://www.kiro7.com/news/local/bar...ions/857203408
Not sure what vape you are using but my HIGHly scientific research methods lead me to believe you might need a higher output device. I too struggled with replicating the erl/gummie effects and thus the search began. I was in Barbary Coast in SF and they had multiple devices to use with your purchase. My search ended on that fine day after using one of their VapeXhale EVO. You can use it with flower and concentrates and they have adaptors so you can use it with your favorite glass piece(s).
Wow - that's quite the device! I was looking for something a little more discreet/portable/compact. Mine comes in a nice little case like a compact with a slot for everything.
I plan on doing a full trip report after a few more days of use/experimentation but I can tell you that I think I'm getting it dialed in now that I'm more comfortable with the vape and the strain I'm using. This was not just my first vape usage but also my first time with a concentrate so I played it conservative at first. Now I can take 6 long vapes (tokes?) and achieve a comfortable relaxed state. I get big clouds which seems to be desirable from what I've read and watched on videos (but what do I know?).
I figured out that if I hold down the button for a few seconds before I vape it works better. There is a "sesh mode" but I can't see how that is helpful - how hard is it to push the little button? The "sesh" timer is only 10 seconds so unless you're puffing like a freight train I don't see the advantage.
I'm using a CO2 CBD/THC oil so I vape at 350°F (pen has four settings. Next highest is 390°F. Optimal temp for CBD oil is 356°F according to this article.
I'm pretty happy with my pen - did a lot of reading before I settled on a KandyPens and bought one of their high end models. No sense in pussyfooting around buying something that is less than optimal and then having to purchase another (and end up spending just as much in the long run).
I bought directly from the company because IMO it's always easier to deal direct. Love that they have a lifetime warranty on batteries.
Cracks me up that all their advertising involves rappers and here I am a 50yo white woman in small town USA. A customer service rep told me the majority of their clientele are retirees which I'm sure is true. Most of the time when I'm visiting one of our local cannabis stores the other customers are my age or older and look like your best friend's mom & dad. LOL!
Again with the sideways pics - sorry. WTF?

good percentages...

Yeah but the Yummy really brings it down IMO. Def. has a strong couch lock side. Funny that the box says "energy, euphoria, focus" because I get none of that. This is not a strain I would want to use if I had something to do or needed to focus. However I did sleep like a log last night.
Re: the cartridge - I noticed, and spoke to a budtender who had the same experience, that the Pearl cartridge vapes very easy. If you're used to something with a little tighter draw the same draw on a Pearl cartridge will give you a massive hit. I did find it a bit harsh no matter how light a draw I took. I don't know enough about concentrates to know if that's the strain or the cartridge or what.
It would be interesting to try each of these stains individually.

I’ve been dealing with the first symptoms of plantar fasciitis and a bum shoulder for the past 5 months or so. I’m in Utah, so products are limited. But Floyd’s of Leadville has got their CBD products in s bunch of bike shops. 1 25mg tablet every night has helped noticeably when added to my normal stretching/pt stuff.
Great stuff.

125 better work!
That's great! You can order from this company in Portland Oregon if you're looking for something else. Their CBD is all hemp derived. The honeystix are nice. CBD-lish.
On another note re: the CBD strains I've been trying. As I mentioned Yummy Dancehall is great for a deep sleep but not something I could function on during the day however the Sour Tsunami is a good daytime strain. I have no problem staying focused and getting things done but by the same token it was not sedative enough to give me a good nights sleep.
Yummy Dancehall: 15% THC/48.1% CBD
Sour Tsunami: 14.69% THC/44.82% CBD
The percentages of CBD/THC aren't too far off between the strains but, I'm learning, there is so much more than just CBD & THC at play. I sure would love to be able to take a class on cannabis do a deep dive into this fascinating world.
Other high CBD strains that are available in my area in concentrate I've yet to try are:
Remedy
Aliens on Moonshine
Canna-Tsu
ACDC
I think he mean "one 25mg pill"
My wife was sold 10/1 CBD tincture to help me sleep. I have found that it doesn't do shit for me in the sleep dept but it does help with minor aches and pain I get in my shoulder after surfing.
On that site it is just self reporting of what people experience. Can you really quantify those things scientifically beyond doing a brain scan while people are high? Everyone reacts differently and being "happy" or "uplifted" are relative depending on the person's baseline. Method of consumption could play into it to as well. When you write a review on that site there are a bunch of boxes you can tick to describe your experience. It's just a guideline to help you decide because ... yanno.... YMMV
I bet you're going to do some thc/cbd/terps awareness sessions :D
Just curious - what were the actual percentages? I take a PM formula and sometimes add 5mg straight Indica tincture on top of that when I want a real deep sleep.
Per the below photo, I prefer a 10THC to 1 CBD tincture for sleep on the left. The 10/1 CBD is in the middle and for me is good for mild aches and pains. The 1/1 THC/CBD on the right is for day time tripping. I tried to sleep on it once and had the craziest dreams ever.
