i miss my brother.
Thinking of all us who haven't been able to see loved ones for a while and probably for quite a bit longer reminded me of this
Not to mention all the immigrants who now can't see their families--hopefully Biden can fix that.
^^^Add this one to the lament of loneliness
Here's a couple that are hard to listen to--midwest tragedies
For all those you're missing this holiday season.............

How did I miss this thread. Some great stuff. A few contributions that I hope are new. Also, insert anything Eliott Smith
In a five-star review, Rolling Stone critic David Fricke wrote that Sea Change was "the best album Beck has ever made, and it sounds like he's paid dearly for the achievement."
Good call on "For No One".
Nice stuff Art, I’m right there with you on these.
Sorry about your friend’s passing.
And yes, Sea Change was awesome. Just a completely heartbroken album. I think he’s done just as great stuff since like Colors for example.
Spent most of the day on customer calls and listening to pretty much all of the songs posted…. Again, some truly unbelievable music…. This is another great one for me that the words are just so powerful…. So glad I saw this bump…

I think it is more the context for the song, but I agree that Do you realize hits hard. As I understand it, Coyne said it was written as a tribute to a friend who was battling cancer and has since succumbed. The pink robots being the cancer cells she was fighting.
Rose and Brian were an item all through college and for several years after. Big Deadheads, followed the band all over the place, saw literally hundreds of shows, Brian once told me his number was over 400. A few years after school, Brian broke up with Rose. Rose killed herself. At the funeral they played this, there were no dry eyes that day.

Geez, that’s awfully sad.
I haven't heard that one before. Thanks for posting.
Glad to hear Lucinda's touring again after her stroke. I heard her a couple of years ago and thought her voice was better than ever. She also explained what each song was about--i.e. what guy--something she doesn't usually do.
Seeing Buddy Miller in that video reminded me of this
Listen to it on youtube and hang around for the next song too.
Listening to Buddy do that Otis Redding song reminded me of this. (To Love Somebody was supposedly written for Otis too, but he died.)
You'll probably like this one too then:

sorry if I posted this one before. With one kid all the way across the country and the other one half way across the world it hits home. I don't dare let my wife hear it, although some say sad songs make us feel better when we're sad.
