Grand Marnier is awesome in the Nog
Maybe Mr. Lopez didn't make his with Black Velvet and some other assortment of bottom shelf liquor? To me it sure seems to smooth out and taste less harsh and boozy.

Here is the Serious Eats post that was mentioned above. Maybe I'll give some of those suggestions a shot. I am a sucker for blind taste tests. Good shit either way.

Tree is up and the egg nog is flowing
Finally my holidays completed.

I am out of nog, oh noooooooooooo!
Vanilla cinnamon eggnog...
Yum
BUMP because I love Egg Nog.
I meant to bump this a few weeks ago. Homemade eggnog should already be going...
Another batch is sitting in the fridge and I dug the bottle that's been lurking in the back for the last year out and gave it a try. Some chunks but still tasty. I don't think it's any better than 2 month aged nog.
Chunks? Interesting. Egg nog cottage cheese...
Pshhhh. I’ve been noggin’ for weeks already. Pumpkin spice FTW. :yourock:
I️ had a couple of mason jars in the fridge from last year up until Aug then one of the kids left the door open over night.
Made my Christmas batch last weekend, looking forward to it.
Time to check Costco.
Care to share your recipe? God I love nog season.
And do’nt get me started on hot spiced cider :fmicon:
puke eggnog sometime and contemplate that thick gloppy shit floating in the toilet.
I’ve got a mason jar lurking in the back of my beer fridge from a year ago....... might have to bust it out this weekend.
I've got one last mason jar from 3 years ago in the back of my beer fridge. We opened another jar from that batch on Christmas day after dinner last year and it was stupid good. Who would've thought uncooked eggs and cream would not only keep for 3 years but actually get more delicious?
Kind of an adapted version of Alton Brown's recipe:

Crazy how the stuff mellows out over the years. Persevered in the liquor...
^^^ I do this recipe but use only bourbon, not a fan of the other booze flavors. Also, make sure you use freshly ground nutmeg, the ground stuff in the container over powers it IMO
My first attempt. I’m going for two batches of the Alton Brown recipe.

Grabbed the local creamery's, nog. Just whipped up a good one, for Mrs. Flake and I, with Sailor Jerry's spiced rum, bullet rye and bourbon.
Let's Party
Six quarts. The wait begins.

^^^ That, right there, is purty!
Strong work.
Barf.
Betty crocker "eggnog in quantity" is the recipe!
Fresh and Deep.
