I like the tram jump idea, but bungees are weak, you'd better have ski-BASE'd it!
Wait a minute. Are you implying that you weren't on the tram? My brain is going to esplode.
Dawn patrolled this morning in LCC. Up pole line into Cardiff. Around 6 inches of new, top layer was graupel on N/NE aspects. Good skiing. South facing was a couple inches on top of a melt freeze crust, not too bad. Didn't want to open it up though for fear of taking a digger into the awaiting sharks. Skis came out unscathed.
Skied Snowbird 2 days after opening on 11/9. Tram was open down regular with good coverage from top to bottom. Fairly crowded, but could have been worse. The view from the top of the tram looked like the dead of winter. Looks to be a good start to a great season. Sorry no pics yet, maybe next time. Rock n roll utah!!
Skied surprisingly good coverage in Wolverine Cirque today. Very fun snow, not lipstick on a pig.
Watch out for small slides on slopes above 40 degrees. Cut off a couple small slabs in the new snow today. Not enough for burial, but enough to knock you off your feet and send you hypothetically tumbling into rocks and things.

Weakness was obviously at the new snow/old snow MF interface.
Trackhead gettin after it like always sweet stuff brah
'Bird was off the hook, today. Great snow to be found on Primrose, Silver Fox and around Wilbere Chutes. Lots of "rockstars" up there...Sage, B. Wheeler. Those 196 Brockers sure look nice.
two things
uno- shindler why you leavin before closing ;)
Dos- already said somewhere else is anyone up for a dawn patrol tomorrow pm me if so??? for me hiking is easier done in a group then alone ya im a puss...
^^^^ what looks good im up for what ever
I was up there an hour ago and it was looking kind of mushy.
I seem to have the flu or something, so I wasn't killing the gnar as much as I would've liked, but as I said in another thread, today kicked ass. Found about 10 turns of totally untracked under Little Cloud at about 3:40, knee to a little more deep. Missed the rope drop on Great Scott, hopefully somebody hit that. Still had a blast, best November 11th inbounds I've ever had.
skidog u still wanna try dawn patrol??? does anyone else wanna try tomorrow morn
Anyone have an idea of how Brighton's opening day would be tomorrow? Shoddy coverage? Bad rock danger? My friend and I are considering ditching and heading up.
quick DP around Flagstaff this morning. E/NE was "somewhat" creamy w/ a hint of crust. south ski-out was well...interesting. maybe an inch or two of new. drizzling about a quarter way down the canyon.
Even though only 1 lift was open when I got there it wasn't bad. Very limited terrain but what was open was in perfectly fine shape. My first time up it was drizzling at the bottom on Gad and half-way up it was snowing. By time I got back down to the bottom it was snowing at the bottom too. When I left at 3:30 it had stopped snowing and seemed like it was trying to clear.
went for the old dawn patrol this morning up along the ridgline that contiunes on to wolvie made a couple laps right there since was all i had time for snow was nice and soft... was a little heavy though... started to crust up towards the bottom heading out... i was lapping a little place around 8 with two different groups another guy by his self and then a group of three any mags possibly???

i wish i could have gone farther in and explored more.. time frame i had just didnt allow for it... but still uber fun time
How about some snowpack observations vs. "I rode the lift, the bumps were sick, I saw rockstars".
Maybe we should start a "Observations from the tram" thread.
im wondering are peaks still good or did they all get hammered
Skied up Pk 10420' today.
The snow up to the top was wet and manky. The wind brought down most of the snow off the trees so gladed skiing is, for the time being, manky and cratered.
Hand pits revealed wet, 4-finger snow from top down to 2-3" above the ground where it's fist snow. I couldnt find evidence of weaknesses between snow from the 3 past storm cycles. The depth hoar forming along the along the ground was only 1-3" in the places I dug. Total depth ranged from 20-30". Seems like it's settled another couple inches in the past day.
Looks like we might get a mid-elevation mini corn cycle this weekend with cold temps friday night and warm ones on Saturday.
Anyone have the day free for a tour tomorrow? PM me.
