Phill & dk are at campsite 11 if anyone shows up tonight.
I was going to drive down tonight, but someone didn't return my phone call! FUCKERS.
how are the conditions? is it worth a road trip from San Fran in a few weeks?
still in CO, working.
get some for me
The snowpack was the best I've ever seen for the 4th.
DK, Phill, Dug and Fiddler showed and we had a great time. Pics when I get home.....
Some fun huck action on the glacier.
Could you ski all the way down to the magic mile base?
I was 7 or 8 turns from timberline. Sorry gents.
Life likes to intrude.
:nonono2:
Yeah, I'm a pansy. Work grabbed me up...although I do get to go to AK and Shemya Island tomorrow...
We're bummed that we missed it. Hopefully we'll be able to make the next summit.
That was fun! Skied, played tunes, missed ferries, got home at 4:30am, showered, ate and went to work. I'll sleep well tonight.
Hey mags, sorry I missed you guys. I was there Sunday afternoon Tuesday morning. I had some business to attend to in Seattle Tuesday afternoon(yes it did involve a chick) and then had to come back to work in the Tri-Cities Wednesday morning. I've been at work for forty hours straight with eight more to go. One of my Brother Firefighters coded and passed last night at work and between the shock that Eric is gone and the call volume being extremely high its been tough to keep going. Please send some vibes this way, all of KFD could really use them. Also just returned from a fatality MVA. The calls keep coming. I just need some sleep.
I'm sorry I bailed and missed seeing everybody but Splat, but I would have hated to not be at work these last two days. Next time I'll take more time off and do it proper. Good Night
Jeremy
Sorry We missed you, we showed up at the camp site 45 min after you left.
Dk_Ak, fiddler, Dug, and I were the only ones you missed, nobody else showed.
Here's some shots from when we went onto the glacier for some hucks.
The cornice shots show what we had to work with.
Dug and Phill huckin. The bad shot of Phill is him hanging about 15 feet up after launching.
i can just hear splat now. "hey phiiiilll! put on those bros and go huge! the landings perfect."
That is what he said. Infact I even told him I thought it looked flat, but he told it was fiiiiinnnneeee. Oh well my balls/tailbone have finally stopped hurting.
Dug gets the award for the biggest air to helmet post-hole. He went HUDGE, phill gets it for the biggest overshoot of a tranny and the loudest ski slap.
All in all, it was an AWESOME time with the FEW lucky mags who decided to sac up and show up. GREAT snow conditions, GREAT weather and a GREAT small group of mags led to one of the best sessions I have had overall. Thanks Splat for bringing the sticks for us to demo, the 192's are an AWESOME ski. Phill and Dug, I had a great time hanging with you guys for the trip. Fiddler, it was great finally meeting you. It's too bad for those who didn't show up, y'all missed OUT!!!
DAMN, you are good, almost verbatum!!! he did stick it though
Bwaaaaa!! We had some serial fun, z. Wish you had made it.
Ray, one of the PM Gear partners, and his nephew, Todd, left the top of Palmer chair and were on the summit in 2 hours and 20 minutes. Ray, a maggot, skied off on the 192s and Todd skied the 179s. They passed every group of short-roped climbers on the way up just bootpacking it. Ray has some summit pics he'll be sending me.
Props to Phill and Dug for hucking. The gully on the lookers right side of the glacier is a great place to launch. I'm sure everyone was glad Phill was preoccupied for a few days. That bigger air prolly surprised him. That kick in the nuts will help him build character, I'm sure. ;)
Here's some more shots.
Arriving in Still Creek to find Fieldys Nuts. Other guy is Steve, one of the factory guys.
A shot of the mountain from down the road.
As promised, I said I'd ski the Bros with no bindings.
A verification shot walking across the rocks.
A shot on the way up. Damned if those Californians haven't thought of everything.
Here's some more random shots....
Nice!!
If there's one in October like last year or November count me in!
Those photos make me want to take the 12 hour drive up there next weekend. Especially with no surf on tap.
How long of a hike to the cornice? How is the terrain park? And the crowds - are there a lot of people out?
Snow looked nice. and the weather.
public park is nonexistant / sucks. Everything is laned and the public gets one lame ass quickly fucked lane. The hike to the cornice is maybe a 5 min on ski traverse just watch for crevases. Not worth the 50 bones if you ask me.
