Normally I go for the Caol Ila, but just ordered a bottle of this for $46 shipped. Such a deal, gotta try it.

16 yr glenlivet nadurra cask strength is the greatest thing I have ever tasted. Worth every penny.

try either of the 2 above, i personally rate them above the nadurra, but it's all down to taste i suppose...

drunk posting to commence in 1 hour.
our dinner host last night was pouring himself some Johnny Blue and i felt it my obligation to not let him go down that road alone. Not a regular drinker of whisky or scotch- i couldnt let this pass by. I drank it before dinner, with my salad, dinner, and desert. When our host moved on to Frangelica, i followed up with a Johhny Blue. At one point my entire body felt like it was a glowing coal.....exceptionally smooth.
I'd like to add that his home is at Stratton.....of course
Thanks for the bump, very informative thread.
The last three bottles in our house have been an Abelour A'Bunadh, The Maclallan and now a Laphroig quarter cask - all delicious!
robbie burns day was celebrated wed night with all the good brands ,haggis, scotch eggs and adressing the haggis /reading of RB poetry

Ardbeg Supernova (18 years or maybe it was a 20). Whatever, it's pure liquid gold.
I'm entering this thread on the back end. My favorite for a number of years has been Oban. It's what we buy on almost every ski trip.
Speyside - Tamnavulin
Islay - Bruichladdich
One of the best at that price, IMHO. I haven't had the 21 yo, but I hear it's excellent too. The 15 year old is my current favorite scotch, period.

Having good scotch is even more important in a low snow year.
stratton-my people!
our host said he typically offers his guests a choice of single malt or a blend, leaving out the part about the blend being blue label. Hos gambit usually works. I handed my red wine to Lori when I saw him refilling his glass with blue, and joined him.
Just putting my tally with Balvenie, with the Caribbean Cask as my favorite; "is aged in traditional whisky barrels for 14 years, then transferred to rum barrels to finish. Rich, sweet and creamy toffee on the nose with rounded vanilla and sweet oak notes and a soft and lingering finish."
So damn good. I wasn't an enjoyer of scotch until I bought this for my scotch loving friend's birthday last year. This made me enjoy scotch.
