True, I guess it would be more Palisades

I always thought most of that was considered the Snake River Range?
And I always think of the snake river range as running from palisades reservoir to snake river canyon [emoji23]. Ask Turiano?
Any way, grove creek as we speak:

Yeah, it’s always been fuzzy how we described that zone, for sure.
EOB, I have done that route, but just in two parts. That whole Torta would be a hell of a day, for sure.
Mail Cabin nearly snow free, but at least a half dozen big trees down from the last storm. Mike Sell in amazing shape.

^^^ I rode Mike Sell yesterday via Pole Canyon and there are also some big trees down from that storm about mid climb. All in one spot, so just one dismount.
You guys made it pretty far on that trail work, that made a huge difference for that section.

Nice!
Hey all! Hoping to get a little beta. Planning on enjoying a bday weekend up your way from the Wasatch. I’m looking for a fun blue-blue/black ride to do with the lady. I was eyeballing Black Canyon on the pass, is there anything out in Big Holes or elsewhere that would also fit the bill? Was thinking a 3ish hour ride, 2500-3000ft-ish…
Any recommendations are appreciated!
If you are staying on the Jackson/Wilson side, you absolutely can’t go wrong with up Phillips Ridge, down Snotel to Arrow Trail, and down Phillips Canyon. Park at the lower trailhead north of Wilson on Fish Creek road.
Don’t speed on the road, even if you want to.
But it’s one of the best in the area that fits the bill.
That was for sure my #2, but everyone has to be decently fir to do it in 2-3!
One of the advantages to Phillips/Phillips is that it’s almost always simple to just go down back to the car.
Another question along the same lines....we are headed down to Targhee this weekend with the kids (13 and 11). Planning on riding the resort one day. Is there a good backcountryish loop in the valley that would be fun for the kids? Probably 2,000 vert, 15 miles max would keep it on the fun side with a little less being better. Thanks for any hot tips!!
Can recommend a ton of other loops but if you are camped at Targhee, there's SO much riding up there, you can find something for everyone. Otherwise try the Horseshoe loops- I'll post a nice version here Horseshoe Loop Route

This is great - thanks! We've ridden a bunch at Targhee each summer and I was hoping to check out something on the other side of the valley. Appreciate the recommendations.
Second that, thanks for the recs all!
Heads up and mouth closed- the cows are back in Mill Creek. Managed to avoid riding through any of the big wet ones, but had to haze a couple groups of cows/ calves off the trail below the Overlook.
Anyone interested in a ride on the pass tomorrow? I'm solo and was planning on hitching up and riding Lithium, maybe a second lap on Blacks Canyon.
*Maybe* in for a Blacks, what time are you shooting for?
Rode Blacks yday and was a few hours too early. I’d bet it is freaking PRIME right now.

How are the new trail work/reroutes bedding in?

Really good. The middle third is a little less light speed than it used to be but in many ways more fun. A few more turns etc.

I almost ran splat into a moose on the upper third of Phillips Ridge yesterday. Came around a corner and there she was, right next to the trail. Even the juvenile ones are huge and prehistoric. Then saw a black bear in the parking lot where trail hits Fish Creek, and another huge bull moose at the bridge to Wilson. Took a while to settle heart rate back down! 🫎🫏
