Been having some luck fishing & crabbing up here in SE AK.

The ladies pulled up two big Halibut two weeks ago. 90 lbs. & 60 lbs.

A great weekend and feast of seafood. Bacon wrapped halibut cheeks and fresh king crab with a water front view.

Pulled in a few kings this season too but I can't find any pictures at the moment. Waiting for the silvers to run.

Nice looking cooler! Good to see the Rainers are still running in NW waters.

A couple things I learned on that trip...

1-casting full line length with a 6 wt all day for 4 days straight will kill your arm.
2-rowing a drift boat is fkn fun! I enjoy sitting at the sticks and rowing people so thy can catch fish almost as much fun as the fish catching myself.
3-It's always 420 somewhere.

Sfb knows that river better than I know the back of my hand. I highly recommend fishing it with him.... its a damn good time!

The mrs. dropped me and the fish sniffer off at the damn and took the rig down and got her poundin the pavement fix runnin the shuttle.
I got my ass kicked that morn, last time I forgo the morning java rituial, never been a fishcounter, the pleasure I recieve from fly flingin is based in doing things right, with puttin em in the net being the final accumulation of that. So not being able to establish boat control not being able to put the fly where i think it needs to be, not getting the strip set and repeatedly loosin big fish humbled my ass hard, needing to not show up at camp an hour late per ussual only exasperated my continued flailing.
finally got er togather a bit and found the castin stroke still managed to not land every pig i hooked that day but exercised few and remembered how blessed i am to be able to spend time in such cool places with those who i luvs

Looks like pretty big water for Southern Appalachian brookies. Some sort of natural barrier there isolating the competition downstream?

Agree. This was really my first time specifically targeting Brookies, mainly due to high water everywhere. Figured I'd go as high as I could. The barrier is significant. Major waterfall gorge, which I have a few photos of in there, looking back from the top. . I wanted to fish down, but being alone, it wasn't worth the risk. Big falls/pools.
This creek is very narrow in most places as you would expect. There are a few spots where you can actually make a full back cast. Just a few. Believe me mike, I was a bit taken a back when I landed these fish, especially the 2nd one. But I've checked topo maps and its definitely over 5kft.

This isn't a super secret stream. Is in a guide book. Which comments on the openness "in spots" of the stream which is unusual. And in reality that's one thing that led me to go there. I like to cast(poorly). I've posted pics of the fish but not the l landscape, in local forums. Looking at all these pics, it wouldn't be too hard to figure out where I was.
Guess most people aren't up to the hike.
