I run studded duratracs so no help with those two tires, as for noise they aren’t that bad to deal with. I don’t really notice them, and I’d rather deal with a little noise then slide around all the time. I usually have 500 or so pounds in my truck bed too. And it will go anywhere.Quote:

Do you have 2 sets or are the studs removable and replaceable for changing seasons somehow? That would be ideal. I see a lot of the town pickup trucks use duratracs, and I’ve always heard good things about them except they can be hard to balance I guessQuote:

When the AT tires were relatively new, there was a more noticable difference.
It probably helps that I have the windows down a lot less when the winter tires are on.
I got six winters out of the LT2s (I don't drive much, either--10-12k/yr) and they're around 50% tread. Even with that age and mileage on them, they did pretty darn well last winter (only got stuck once, and that was 100% pilot error).

Just chatted with tire rack customer service. You can stud the Duratracs and remove the studs one time, but you can’t put the studs back in a second or third time…
I have two sets of wheels and tires. Nitto ridge grapplers 37x12.5r20 for the summer and 325/65r18 studded duratrac for winterQuote:

I did on a set. Came off winter and didn’t want to buy new summer tires, winters wouldn’t go another one. Just had thing 2, new business, times were tight. Took me about 1.5 hrs and a sixer. Pretty easy with a screwdriver.Quote:

Guy I know says this is very common. End of winter, winter tread played out, and people want to just run out the tire before next season, so they ask to have the studs pulled. It's actually very easy to pop them out. He said easier to pull them than using a stud gun to put them in.Quote:

Montana and Maine, among other states, have places you can see the stars and seasonal limitations on studs. Granted, I think you'd have to piss off a cop before he looked at your tires to get cited for that in Montana, or in most of Maine.Quote:
