I just finished a “Scandinavian” wood pile for the 2025-2026 winter. I’ll put it in the shed in summer 2025 once it’s seasoned.

Yep on the tarp. I should disclose that 30 seconds after I split the last couple of rounds in the photo and gently placed them on top, about 1/3 of the stack collapsed.[emoji23]Attachment 465060

Since I've lost my stacker to research assistanceships, here's the current state of our woodpile, movin to shed.

Do you drape a tarp across the open front to make a wall/door to keep all that wood dry during winter?

I used to, not lately. The shed is surrounded by big conifers and the house, so it doesn't get wind there.

That’s convenient. Mine gets soaked if I don’t seal up the sides somehow.

Having the sides open helps dry out the wood during the typically dry PNW summers.

But yeah, without the tall conifers and the house protecting it, I'd have to put up tarps or extend the overhang for the drizzly winters.

Thats ^^ a real saw, a local faller tells me its the 461/462 are the best saws he has used in like 35 years as a pro

Buddy has 3 of them (spares eh) and he gets them Walkerized

That what I heard from a buddy that does forest work in aspen. Power to weight is crazy apparently. It’s got a 28in bar on it.

I’ve got some large diameter trees to buck and a log splitter. Can’t wait to see what this think can do.

Sthil claims the saw burns less fuel, my Buddy is not a very big guy so I'm thinking he doesnt want to lug around extra weight & fuel
