OMG White Heat opens Saturday!!!
The GFS has the weekend storm looking pretty good, the NAM a little out to sea, but still delivering. I wish I knew more about this stuff. The systems next weekend have me completely perplexed. Something just looks off about them, not sure what it is, but they don't look like "real" systems.
I actually went skiing today!
Where: Gunpowder Falls State Park, MD
Why: to break my new boots in
How: Not sure, there wasn't much snow (1" ice/granular under 4"-5" powder)
Partners: a few Juncos
Earned some turns today. I was hoping that the Hereford Zone would have more snow...Oregon Ridge down south actually had more. Shiiiiit.
The north slopes of the river valley have some vertical, but not too much snow right now. Still worth it though.

Edit: Yeah I sucked at copying Rob's earlier image. Anyways it shows graphically the amount of moisture predicted for the next couple of weeks-and it looked like the Northeast was going to get a bunch.
Second edit-just saw MWOBS reported 7.2 inches of new snow on the am report. Gotta like that.

Working to mount some new skis and a bit perplexed. Old stock from the back of the quiver and instead of midsole mark it says "boot toe" with an arrow. Front of toe? Where the front of my toe[in the boot] would be? Using Scarpa AT boots, is the toe shorter? Difference is a few cm but I am balanced like a cat so it wouldn't bother me, but would like it to be close.
Plenty of Heady around and I have my compass so I am not stumbling around yet. Thanks

That's like the Explosiv's. EarlyWood and I had to do some research on that from my garage when we were mounting some a few years back. Based on our combined wisdom & research (lol) we decided that the proper use of the toe line is to line up your boot on the topsheet with the toe flush with that line, then mark the center line on your boot on the ski & mount normally.Quote:

DJ, I saw your old 4 sale thead on T4T when I googled GT6 mounting. This is the third pair of these I have aquired. The GT6 was my favorite tele ski back in the day, after going through a pair of El Caminos' then a pair of 4s I got a pair of these.
K2 then shipped production to China [thanks to Dan Quayle] and I bought two pair of the last year of US stock, Still have #2 kicking around. Thinking I skied around 450-500 days on this family of ski.

KILLINGTON, Vt. -
Vermont State Police are investigating what killed a skier at Killington.
Ski patrol found the body of 21-year-old Jennifer Strohl off the Great Northern trail around 5 p.m. Thursday night.
Friends of the Pennsylvania woman reported her missing some 6 hours earlier, after they became separated skiing at the resort.
Police say she suffered a head injury after what they call an apparent collision. Strohl was not wearing a helmet.
Her death does not appear suspicious

Neufy - Ha, the pretty pics are what got me interested too, aside from the obvious addiction issue that is. I've gotten friendly with one of the local mets and have enjoyed a few crash courses over beers in the last year, definitely still a novice but I can at least make heads or tails of some of those maps.
Saw this one earlier this morning, looks a little more positive than it did in yesterday's run. If this holds true Magic and points S/E could be in the sweet spot for whatever falls. Figures there is a good possibility of a warm up next week, just in time for what will hopefully be my first day on snow:nonono2:.

Yet another Arctic front will settle southward as we look ahead to this afternoon. This feature will bring some passing cloudiness and isolated flurries to the region later today and will reinforce the cold air that's currently in place. Look for that front to stall to our south tonight while low pressure takes shape over the Southern Plains. That system will track northeastward, move up the coast and be positioned just off the coast of Southern New England by Sunday morning. This is an ideal track for producing fairly heavy snowfall for the region and the cold temps will ensure we squeeze the most out of the available moisture. The low will track south of Nova Scotia Sunday night while we see another upper level trough move in. Colder air will follow and a weak clipper is expected to bring a little more light snow Tuesday. Pattern changes for a few days late next week with a major upper trough forming out west - the resulting southwest flow will bring thaw to our region the weekend before Christmas.
