I have been super busy at work so I went with a Northern Brewer kit. It came with the Vermont ale yeast(Chico) but when I went to do the yeast starter last week the heater on my stir plate kicked on(after I left) and cook the little guys. Had to get another vial and start over.

I also have a Pliny clone on tap, another NB kit, its good.

I was in San Diego last weekend and hit several different breweries and enjoyed quite a few IPAs. I went to Ballast Point (Linda Vista location), Mike Hess (North Park), Stone (Liberty Station), and Green Flash. San Diego is definitely an IPA town. All these breweries had several IPAs on tap. The other trend seems to be beers with some type of chili pepper added. Interestingly, winter beers don't seem to be a big deal. I guess in a place that doesn't really get cold in the winter that's understandable!

My four year old gave me a growler of Golden Nugget IPA from Toppling Goliath for Christmas. Apparently she insisted that was what I really wanted. Good gift and I'm enjoying it right now!

Yesterday I went a different route with a good old award winning Pabst. 32 degree water with chunks of ice with the air only a few degrees warmer.

Seems like Stone has really increased the enjoy by production in the past few releases which is good. I even saw a 1/6bbl keg of the 12-26-14 ($139).

I thought 12/26 tasted like a wet sock personally

The 12/26 had a strong grapefruit smell and I enjoyed the taste. Gave a nice buzz to boot. :smile:

But, Second Fiddle from Fiddlehead is damn tasty! Only had a sample at bar that happened to have a couple cans and was nice enough to share with us. :yourock:

Got a gift card to a place that has $8 growler fills for rest of December.

Schuss, check out WHYM beer cafe in Ports at the Rye border. Nice line up on tap and the owner is cool guy. We're actually looking to cut a trail from the tracks (rail trail) right to the bar!
