I spent a day lapping chair 23 with one of the marine instructors during his day off. He was from Georgia with no snow or skiing experiencing until getting shipped out to the training center. A very good skier. It was a super fun day.

No. He was on his personal all modern equipment available at that time, such as t[emoji637]’s. Pre-dates switchback existence.

I’m not sure what to expect from these. I’ll report back tomorrow

Hey y’all - long time since I’ve checked in. Been out skiing a bit but not enough, due to work and kinda shitty conditions.
On the subject of barely used 75mm boots I’m holding 2 pairs of ener-G 27.5. Could definitely part with one pair as all my rigs are NTN.
If someone needs them drop a line. $100 if you wanna pick them up in Brighton or SLC.
And haha yeah I like to have a lot of backup shit in stock even though they might not get much action. To that point tho the only skis I’ve got with Axl at the moment are OG white room Renegades. They’ll see a nice resort pow day this season guaranteed![emoji23]
Keep on shreddin on, tele posse. Gimme a shout if you find yourself droppin the knee in Brighton!
Need Scarpa twenty five five slash twenty six. Twenty years after the early adopters, I’m going to drink the NTN Kool-Aid. Telemark is better for one’s health. I care. Looking for something in decent condition, I’m very fkn frugal though, so I might be looking for a while. When I get boots and bindings sorted I’ll have some good T ones and bindings to delete. Thanks
So much fun I’m surprised it’s still legal (hoping the picture loads properly but if not, it’s my Line Sakanas with Outlaw X). Looking to acquire some more fun shapes instead of just another midfat freeride ski. Thinking maybe a Mirus Cor or something fully rockered next.

Still on the hunt for twenty five five

I must have missed the explanation, but what the fuck is up with the string of unreleadable "[emoji]" crap?
Every forum here has a sticky thread at the top explaining that they’re working on fixing the site
Has anyone seen the new TX Comp prototype? Any thoughts on how it compares to Crispi WC?

Just yesterday there was a review of it on powder.com . I got to put it on but not ski. Also haven't skiied Crispi WCs, but can confirm it's stiff. I expect it to walk way better, be significantly lighter, but also probably be a less good choice for heavy resort use due to that weight diet.
https://www.powder.com/gear/review-s...-telemark-boot
The Powder review seems to go out of its way to compare it to the new Pro which, while not without merit, leaves a lot of room for questions; especially for those of us on current Comps and WCs. Nothing in the review, however, would make me hesitant to try a pair next year.
Yeah I was bummed the powder review didn’t benchmark the stiffness vs Crispi. My current comps are so soft I barely remember them ever being even moderately stiff.
The weight increase with the TX Comp was more than I expected. Oh well, guess that’s my fault for buying AT boots like the Skorpius and ZGTP that have a great stiffness to weight ratio…skews my perception.
But my real hesitation is the walk mode lever on the TX Pro. From what I’ve seen skiing with friends, it has a tendency to pop into Walk mode on the descent. I haven’t bothered looking in other forums for a solution. Does one exist?
Re: ski/walk mode - on the new Pro it seems to be associated with icing up, and the new sole material has a similar problem. No solution that I've heard of yet, other than de-icing.
I think the walk mode lever popping into walk mode only did/does it in one specific forward lean position (don't recall if that's the position with the most or least lean).
I havent experienced issues with the walk mode, other than a clicking noise on the uptrack and some tape inside the boot solved that.
I believe some folks who moved into the most forward lean position had the problem of popping into walk mode on the descent, and I thought that going back to the neutral, default position cured that. But I could be wrong.
Lookin for a single 22 designs Outlaw X NTN telemark binding. Anyone holding one?
Not an issue if you're doing a tele turn. Not even if you're parralel but centered. Only a problem if you get in the back seat.
The reality is that even a godlike skier like me might land an air a bit off balance, or hit a weird divot in flat light, or whatever, and put some pressure on the rear cuff. It is interesting to hear the complaints about the Quattro XT lever unexpectedly going into walk mode since they appear to be the same as the TX Pro lever. Since Scarpa addressed that issue by using an actual lock mechanism for the Quattro Pro they seem aware of the issue.
BTW tele boots have traditionally had such shitty walk modes that as long as you had em buckled tight, going into walk mode didnt make much difference on the descent if you were just cranking tele turns on moderate terrain. My Crispi WCs are a shining example of that. But the tx pro walk mode has actual ROM.
I ski in walk mode 100% of the time. Will have to change that when I get new boots
Some of the mods to the new TX Pro are pretty eye opening - removing top buckle, removing the shell tongue, pulling the rubber sole off and grinding down the shell sole thickness, etc.. Really says something that people are willing to hack up an $850 (I know, currently on end of season sale) pair of boots after skiing them for just a few days. Makes me uneasy about next year's new Comps.
New to NTN. Have Outlaws on eightyeight. Anyone have eighty or ninety five brakes? If not I’ll get them from twenty two. Thanks
Based on cursory research I guess they are bendable.

If you really were hard core you would go old school with leashes. Nothing like the egg beater crash. Lol. Loving NTN for convenience and performance. The only way I would go back to 75mm is if I lived in the Midwest and decided to ski garbage hills with leather boots and tua skis. Oh wait. I did that years ago

I’ve gone back to no brakes and no leashes with my outlaws.
Be aware that if your brakes hang over too much, your brakes are going to catch the snow when you angulate in a turn or when skiing steep snow. They do not retract on the outlaws. Some people also experience their brakes catching each other when transitioning tele stance between turns.
Bandits do retract; I'll be testing a new pair next week. The brake catching thing is weird - the narrowest brake available for my Freerides is 95, which I've used on everything down to 65 mm waited skis, and have never snagged the brakes on each other, nor have I caught snow in sharp angled turns - that may be explained with my 50 mm stack height, however.
I experienced the outlaw x brake catching the snow thing skiing the steeps at mammoth on 2d snow. Removing the brakes solved the problem.

I gave my Tele setup to the local telemarking cobbler bro who is like the only cobbler/ boot maker in narthern BC so out of curiosity I asked about resoling a leather tele boot and Buddy sez he can no longer get those Vibram soles to redo a leather tele boots
Hmmm. Think I will forgo the brakes. Accustomed to the PITA of leashes and do not want to have non retractable brake arms getting tangled up. Thanks
re- resoling 75mm boots, get an oversized logger's boot soles and cut-and-grind to fit.
the lug/tread pattern won't be perfect, but a functional boot should be restored.
Good luck.!
skiJ
Damn that's depressing if it's true.
You could probably carve up a sole to fit in a cable binding but if you want to actualy using the pins that might be problematic my telewanking cobbler bud who it turns out I met when he was 15 custom builds boots for loggers and firefighters from scratch and so if he tells me Vibram doesnt sell those 3pin tele soles anymore I believe him, Matt does some really nice work so check out his site and I sure am glad I got rid of that tele setup https://webbbootco.com/
Wow, no more Vibram tele soles! Re retrofitting loggers boots, resoling leather tele boots with something other than a sole designed for that is going to result in a boot with the torsional stiffness of a washcloth. Which is what happened not very long after I got my Asolo Summits resoled, and those got an actual Vibram telemark sole. A boot that heavy that can barely edge as well as NNN-BC ends up being kind of pointless.
Will someone please take my boots? Scarpa T1 4 buckle boot in good to great condition. Black and red and size 28. No liners. Free + shipping money. Local pickup preferred 80033
