Yesterday was fun! I didn't even have to work after skiing so I actually stayed all day. Hope you guys got some.
hmmmm
pull DP & bridger, put in a triple w/midway unload...
hmmmm
could be a cluster til shlaashy's opens
half the operational costs so cheaper passes;)
/1000mi away pondering...
thoughts?
?
'really stupid fucking idea' is my thought.
my initial thought as well, damn I love me some DP
however, that randy screams hope, shit didja see the poster?!?? like I sure hope he knows what the fuck he's doin.
kinda got the feelin he's forgotten more about BB than we'll ever know collectively, so I'm for it (oh god please let him be right, please please please!)
stuck, it took me 13 pages of google image search to find something that wouldn't ruin this thread.

One thing I heard is that they have to get rid of deer park#1 cause it's on it's last season, and the that the triple they want to replace it with will be more resistant to the wind.
Not sure how I feel about that, but I heard they are going to do it before the Bradley's expansion. Maybe they are thinking about how it would work with that.
I have heard a heavy triple so it would be less likley to shut down for wind(PK rarely shuts down).
But I can't believe no one has mentioned fall line...anyone...
It will be sick to ski bronco, sluice, avalanche etc... with no traverse.
Bronco fall line is a great run but is ruined by DP. I think the big picture is a bright one!!! It will take all those runs and make them twice as long. I would imagine they will let the roads fill in making for longer fall line skiing.
Randy knows what he is doing, we will obviously question it along the way, but it will all work out.
Pray for snow and be careful out there...
That is all such a very good point. I bet they keep the roads for beginners, but yeah, Bronco gets fucked by the DP and to have all that stuff go all the way down that natural fall line would be sweet. Would make that area work better it seems. Less traverses in the good bump lines and a longer run. I like the lower DP groomers anyways!Quote:

will be a cluster, no matter what
bullshit, won't happen...ever...
Me too, only thing that makes the place bearable on pow days, since the slush never opens on pow days (3/17 being the first one this year it's opened same-day).Quote:

bamboo chasers might prefer it go just a bit higher to start their courses higher as we've all seen so they'd just ride the dang thing all the way up or unload at midway and bootpack up a bit I guess...
think DP chair-the top shack in particular- is gravitationally challenged, you've heard it was the last yr for it? well then guess we need something, shame bridger chair couldn't stay as well, there's nothing better for entertainment than two lifts terminating in the same small area...
Im a highT addict so not doin the headsUp traverse all the way back over sounds nice but until there's a way to open everything at once (never) there's gonna be a pretty full maze at the bottom of that sucker on the popular days...
Yeah, gotta be careful about having faith in humanity around here.Quote:

Half the people riding the lift will probably go tell all their friends how sick the new lift is when they traverse down and across for half the vert to get to whrilpools. Abominable.
No, I was told that it was not worth repairing anymore. They are on their last gearbox or something.Quote:

DP had a lot of problems last year, and BB had a hell of a time tracking down people to work on it. Remember the every-other-chair rule of last year?
You need to chill the fuck out and ski more, seriously G. Remember, this is our LOCAL TOWN HILL! The BB patrol and management have done an outstanding job of keeping us safe and providing a tremendous recreational resource at an affordable price for 50+ years. I have nothing but respect for them and all the petty griping about shit not opening when YOU think it should is simply dis-respectful.
You want high-speed quads, lift access to gnarly terrain, and a big bad-ass resort the Pig Sty is right down the road.
Randy gave a little talk today at the Bottom of Boot hill, planning another tomorrow. Show up and get informed a little before all the shit-slingin.
Had a blast at bridger this week, hidden gulley was a little frightening before the storm, but it brought some good snow and slush's was pretty good the day after.
While I agree with you 90% Lexi, I think that alot of people are reasonably dissapointed that the Slushmans chair is not going to fix the issue of the pow day cluster fuck.Quote:

I remember alot of the debate about the pro's and con's of Slushmans, and alot of people were expecting it to ease the crowding and the powder fever. I remember people saying forever "The mountain is tracked out in an hour, we need another lift"...
While I understand the issue of why they can't open all of it and actually agree with it in most ways myself, it is understandable to me that people are dissapointed with the same old cluster fuck + 1/3 that they thought was going to be a thing of the past.
The hill has reached kind of a carrying capacity it seems, and I can't really think of a way to make it work. I listened to Randy today and it seems the new Bridger chair with a midway unload at the bottom of Bronco is about the best option they have considering all the circumstances. I hope it works out.
Having missed this season at Bridger, this is pure speculation.
The mountain never was tracked out within an hour. Hell, you can find good stuff in the tree's off PK days after a storm (at least you could).
Do you think that the slushman's terrain drew more people than normal? It seems like pow days were in fact a clusterfuck this year. Is that because people are expecting lift service and have gotten soft not having to hike? Is the Ridge tracked out more than it has been in the past?
As a complete armchair quarterback on this one, I'll agree with lexi on all points.
The whole "tracked in one hour" is probably relating to Bridger. But really its 11:30.
So they are gonna take out DP and Bridger and replace it with a triple from DP to top of Bridger w/ a DP top unload?
That would suck when I rode there I would out run 2 to 1 on cluster days on DP until the herds thinned when the ridge opened. That means guaranteed lift lines for everyone. I used to run devils dive and eye poker trees.
At the end of my 10 year run there I was burnt on Bridger cluster days to say the least. But its a kick ass mountain esp the storm riding days.
