Yup, I put a feeder out at our house in town and it took them like 5 days to find it but when I put this one out earlier in the week they were on it in like 5 minutes.
So much goodness in this thread. Thx to all who post.
Busy couple weeks. I also saw a black bear but couldn’t get to my phone in time.

Soloing the last bit of the west ridge of Stuart I came upon this majestic goat looking down on me from the summit.Attachment 423854
^ cool.
On a smaller scale... these little black wasps are savage af. They sting a spider to paralyze it, then cruise around with it stopping periodically to nip and taste the thing and chew off useless legs, looking for a place to stash it and lay eggs inside the breathing body. ~shudder~

One of the owls in the backyard, there are two adults and a growing chick. I believe they are western screech. Happy to be told otherwise, I am not up on my ornithology.

Elephant seals in Cambria.
We've been enjoying an explosion of mantids this year (fence lizards too). Have "trained" a small female mantid to use our dog's breathable poop bags as fly lures to chow down.
Mouse needs to be less available, however.
Why breathable poop bags?
Spooked this young cow a couple days ago at Alta. She was bedded down in the tall grass inside a blind turn, I stopped within 10' of her. We were both very unsure about how to proceed but had a good chat and she stayed put while I went around:

Ms Boissal had a fit when she spotted this furry fucker right next to the patio table. Had to relocate her, Ms B would have eventually found a stick long enough to hit her with. A stick longer than 50' is rare but she's resourceful and really hates spiders...

My wife was surprised to find this little guy when she was shovelling a pile of bark chips. Turns out they are native in North Central WA.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...81491542ec.jpg

Number 1 on my list of critters that give me the creeps. Saw this one (below) in the Yucca Valley tourist info center a few weeks back. Scorpions can go f*ck themselves.
