Your stock just went to 51% douche to 49% cool. I, now, am officially posted up in the "spook's useless" camp.
You just couldn't help yourself after actually giving decent advice, could you?
Here's a little "Best of: MotherFucker style" for my golf season thus far:

I feel the need to bump this with more golf stoke...

There's a pretty impressive cart girl at Colorado National, but I wasn't about to snap a pick of this skinny, possibly illegal, petite blonde while I'm playing with the father of my wife. No way, no how. I hope she's not still the only thing that's impressive out there.
I believe the hot golf chick you posted up is Kendra Wilkinson.

The first hole. The fairway is dead left. I'm kinda OB right.

Chrome lake. In the distance is the Chrome Lake lodge. Probably the best place to stay if you are going with a 4some. They are like condos or townhomes.

I lost my desire to play golf habitually before last season. I've only played in a couple of charity things this year and enjoyed nice courses and good company. Last night I went out for an informal, whoever shows up plays, after work 9-holer on our local muni that I was invited to. I actually like playing golf regardless of outcome now. I'm sure the golf bug will bite me again, but now it's good to recognize how much pressure i put on myself to play well, and how liberating not giving a shit is.
isn't there somewhere between not giving a shit and putting too much pressure on oneself to play well?
i put some pressure on myself to improve, but i'm also honest enough about where i am that while i may get frustrated from time to time, i don't ruin the game for myself.
ya well, we played for money.
Word. I used to swear with feeling, slam clubs, throw clubs occasionally, and get mad. Now a simple, barely disgruntled "fuck" is sufficient, and it never affects my next shot. I used to put so much pressure on myself in competition. If I had my mindset that I have now, in high school, I would have been a much better golfer.
theres something to be said for not being good enough to get angry about bad shots, and i guess if you always play with people better than you, you never are good enough to get angry (editorial you, not you specifically).
I havent had many ski days where i had a "fuck this, this sucks, get me out of here" attitude; but plenty of those on the golf course.
i play alone most of the time so i can better focus on my game. plus earlybird is a lot cheaper. i say fuck on occasion if i'm alone but keep it to crap if i'm playing with others, just because you never know who you're playing with. if i ever throw a club, i'll quit for good because losing my composure that much over a game would be unhealthy and an embarrassment
When you get better, the urge to throw a club becomes more natural because you have raised expectations. However, eventually the club toss transforms itself into the simple club drop, which you see pros do on TV all the time (releasing the club behind you after your follow-through). I haven't actually thrown a club in years.
well, hopefully i'll resist the urge. i can't say it hasn't been seriously frustrating, but i also consider it therapeutic -- especially practice -- and so when i golf, i also work on the weaknesses in my mindset and personality. i try not to destroy the zen space i get from golfing. when i was competing in another sport, it was important to be in mental control all the time and not show signs of weakness, which letting anger get the best of me is. i took that sport and myself way too seriously and it hurt my performance and myself. but i did get some good things out of it and mental toughness is one. so i'm trying to figure out how that applies to golf without taking myself detrimentally seriously.
i'm not saying i won't throw a club, but i'll be really disappointed in myself if i do.
yah, you gotta fight the urge to let them fly. when my oldest son was 6 or so he threw a club down at his feet because he was angry i wouldnt let him drown 2 balls in the same pond and wanted him to drop on the other side and chip. (one ball per hazard while I'm paying for the balls). I picked up my ball and walked off the course with him trying to keep up and pleading his case. He never let go of another as far as I know. We had lunch and went to the pool, but golf was done for the day.
I go with "turds" or even, when I am really hot, "double turds." Good shots, of course, get a "that's a peach."
My son beat me by a stroke today, first time ever. He seems to think its a big deal, me, not so much.
He went out to hit another 9. Not me. Its happy hour.
had a 3 hour lesson today hitting 225 balls at the range, all with the 6 iron until the head snapped off when i made contact with the ball. scared the shit out of me. i had no idea what had happened at first.
in any case, i've improved my swing a lot. i also bought the prov1 app for the ipad and my instructor's been recording me and then we discuss it. amazingly helpful. he also said i could continue to record myself when i get home and send it to him via email and we could write back and forth about it. really cool guy who is very patient and when one thing is not working, he finds another way to describe it or a drill that accentuates it and we work on it until i get it right. i was crushing towering iron shots 180+ with the 6 iron. i have no idea how far anybody else hits a 6 iron, but that's a lot further than i was hitting them in the us. also noticed in the video that even with the steel shafts there is a HUGE amount of flex in regular flex steel shafts, so he recommend i get stiff ones when i get home. i've only got two days left at the club but he's gotten me to the point where i understand what i'm supposed to do and have pretty well figured out what i'm doing wrong when i hit poorly. i feel pretty good about going home and practicing. i worked my ass off here and it's finally starting to pay off. i'll be sad to leave because i've met some really nice people and had a great time, but i'm excited to see what i can do on my home courses now.
After tweaking my back, I hadn't swung a club in over 3 weeks. Was on the fence but decided to give it a go today and went out to Adobe Creek in Petaluma, CA.
Shot a 76 with 34 (34!!) putts. 40 on the front, even par 36 on the back. Didn't make a single putt over 5 feet and missed at least 8 birdies from inside 10 feet. I guess I can blame it on being rusty.
#3 - fun fact: that road to the left is where Harrison Ford crashed his car at the end of the movie American Graffiti.

#12 - I was looking at 155 to the flag with the wind slightly into me and left to right. Decided to knock down a 7-iron, aim for the left edge of the green, and hope the ball would trickle towards the hole down the slope.
http://i969.photobucket.com/albums/a...7-27171634.jpg
So I hit the ball exactly as planned, and it crept towards the hole... and started dropping but then lipped out! That's as close as I've been in years - still never had one. What a heart-breaker.

#18 is a tough finish. My only missed green on the back-side.
http://i969.photobucket.com/albums/a...7-27181642.jpg
I say "oh shit" whenever I hit a really bad shot but I have never had the urge to bury my putter in the green, throw my clubs into the water hazard, or anything like that. I try not to cuss when I get paired up with strangers but "shit" and "god damn it" just come out sometimes...
I always get a good laugh when I hear some dude having a meltdown on the course. People forget how far your voice can carry on a wide open grassy area when they're in the midst of a temper tantrum
I played a tournament with a kid once (when I was also a teenager) who hit three balls OB off the tee, and after the third one he grabbed his entire bag and chucked it over a nearby fence before storming off.
It was hilarious.
