Retired factory demo Revel Rail29 got dropped off at my house today. By far the nicest bike I’ve ever owned. Just pedaling it up and down the street and romping some curbs has let me know I’m probably gonna love this thing.

Had to make do on Sunday with some old Wellgo MG1’s I had laying around while I waited for some other grips and pedals to get dropped off. Spent a couple evenings this week getting the suspension baselined for my weight and getting the derailleur just right. I feel like a luddite not realizing it’s all done with an app now. Once I got over being offended that technology has moved on while I wasn’t paying attention, I really appreciated how easy it was. (Don’t worry, dropper was only down temporarily)

Sorta feeling buyers remorse. I got some 510 hellcat pros from the LBS. Decided to look up reviews after the fact and the consensus seems to be that they fall apart way too fast. I'm debating whether I should return them before I use them or just ride them and see what happens...
Climbers used to call 5.10s "five to ten weeks" bc that's how long they would last, if you were lucky. Performance was great though.
a mucky nuts front fender, an NX rear cluster, an X01 chain and a 34T chainring so a drive train refresh for 280can$ seems pretty good

New bike day for Mrs. Snowaddict. She liked the geo better than the Revel Rascal and Rail at Outerbike. They are running a sweet sale with the DVO fork right now too.
I took a few lift-served laps on one, including a bit of climbing. I was very impressed by the descending capability for a 140 bike. If you haven't pedaled a CBF bike before, I'd say the pedaling performance hype is real too.
I left my Smash at home for the demo weekend, so unfortunately I don't have a back to back comparison. What I did notice right away was the Lg tilt was much more nimble than my Lg smash in long mode (I haven't ran it in short). I think a big part of this is the chainstays being significantly shorter. I didn't notice any stability issues from the shorter rear end.
I did say this weekend that if I ever move back to the Wasatch, the Tilt would be a fantastic do it all bike. If I didn't just buy my smash (which I still love) I'd be looking hard at the tilt for myself as well.
Sicky! Congrats to Mrs. Snowaddict! I just built up a new Tilt for the Lady myself, she loves it!
Also upgraded myself from the Tilt to the Lithium. Holy shitballs. The Tilt is one awesome bike and I still love it. The Lithium is just... more. Doesn't really feel less nimble or less efficient. CBF is magic. The traction is unreal and the way the rear end just gets up and out of the way.
Highly recommend either bike.
Nice! The Lithium was my favorite bike I tried at Outerbike. Well besides the one.2 super enduro, but I'm not pedaling that thing anywhere haha.
She was really back and forth between the Lithium and Tilt. We both decided the Tilt made more sense for most of our riding around here.
I've been coil curious for a while, so switched out the stock Fox Float X for the new Rockshox Super Deluxe Ultimate (they should've just called it the superlative...) coil:

First tried a 350lbs spring which already felt like it moved incredibly freely, but just sat too high in the travel. With a 300lbs spring (at 68kg) I just tickle 30% sag and wow, it just flutters like a butterfly over small bumps and for the first time I can actually use full travel (even if I ran the air shock at ~35% sag it just ramped up so much at the end - even with no tokens - that I could never get more than ~85% travel).
Obviously a bit heavier but than the air shock, but while I haven't done any proper pedalling with it yet it actually feels more efficient (more appropriate sag) and the lockout is firmer. So I think big climbing days will be just fine too.
i'm all set to ride and the end of the presta stem breaks off as i'm checking the pressure so that ride didnt happen and I had to buy a new pair of stans valve stems,
I wonder if you can get just the removable inner valve ??
The valve core? Those a dime a dozen and come with many repair kits.
never seen it but I will check
Here's a 100 pack for $25.

I'm thinking the lbs will have them in smaller amounts
but i did not see any and I've never seen presta cores on the wall, so its not something I have ever noticed even when I briefly worked in an LBS
If you ask they probably have some in a drawer. maybe new for a dollar or maybe pulled out of old tubes and free.
Bought this 10 pack a year ago and have enjoyed having extras. $7.50. Or you could spend $10 and get 10 plus an extra valve core tool laying around. I’m good at losing those. Presta Valve Core - 10 Pack https://a.co/d/h5prl9P

Maybe not tossing that plastic cap in the trash is a good idea. I'm guessing one could just cap the stem and sealant would do the rest. Overinflate, stop with finger, avoid face shot and cap it quickly ninja like. Or just cap it and stab the tire with a universal inflation needle.
^^^you should make a YouTube how to video on this and post the link here.

Fine, if you can you do that for free?I've always been a bit jealous of social Internet monetary get rich and don't work much people.
New Frame and fork. Giant Revolt Advanced Pro size Medium. Fits me perfectly. It’s set up in the long chip configuration with tons of room for the Cintrato’s which measure 47mm on the Firecrest rims. Bike is so well balanced, feels glued to the ground. Waiting on a stem from Giant before I cut the steerer tube. Stoke level, red.

Hacking a Presta valve stem is the last thing I want to do so I got presta valve cores from the LBS, they were not out on the wall they were in a little drawer in the back of the LBS so one has to ask, I never had to deal with a broken stem in 20yrs of running tubeless
My first major tubeless flat was a broken stem/core. I carry tubes now rather than fuck around w that bullshit repair.
I blame aluminum stems. (Mostly).
convinced my wife to upgrade her "vintage" MTB. She loved it, and saw no need for an upgrade, until she rode the new one. Trek Top Fuel with the T-Type, carbon wheels, etc. etc.

bonus points if anyone can name this riding location:

Planet Earth?
Knowing the state would help...
I'm guessing somewhere in central Washington.
Lago Argentina by El Calafate?
