(sorry for the tripple post) And lastly - worry not - I am prob tapping out of the HL experience shortly. The skis are really great. The BC100 and AM110 are sold out for 25/26 seemingly in my sizes - what would be my two next purchases - and the exchange rate/shipping fees/customs fees troika just makes them too expensive in my neck of the woods ( I bought a pair of SF110s and a pair of MF112s yesterday for 200usd less than I paid for the BC110s when everything was said and done). Too bad I do not live over yonder - the value proposition is freaking magical in North America. Lucky you :)

I really feel like tone and nuanced conversation is dying on this forum primarily due to the inability to edit posts. For me, I often clean up my posts to ensure that it reads the way I intend, and just can't do it anymore. Sorry if anything came across in any way other than my sincere desire to understand your questions and calrify points being made so I could take action.

With you Marshal, nuance is lost without the ability to quote and edit. I really hope the site gets fixed eventually because not being able to edit or post picture or really engage at all is such a loss for the conversation here.

Specifically, how do they crush the soul of the MFree 108?

Do it. You’ll like it. Haven’t skied the Mfree but this will kill a lot of quiver IMO.

Pickles, hopefully I can compare them soon as there is a pair in my neck of the woods I’ll be getting on. The R-Dimes did it for me but the slight camber of the AM is a better comparison.

AM vs R for more directional skiers in mixed conditions? The camber on the AM is appealing but so is the heavier ski. Pivotable chop destroyer that can also lay down an arc is the ideal.

The tune thing cracks me up. I have owned 6 pairs of HL’s and haven’t had any issues. Not saying it hasn’t happened to others but making a lot of nothing doesn’t seem right. Facts is when MO is hand tuning every pair and is slamming the volume through as a one man shop as fast as possible to get the skis to his customers, being human happens and he has done everything possible to remedy issues. I tuned for a shop 20 years ago and almost every pair new out of the wrapper were railed regardless of manufacturer. Idk why I even care to take the time to write this other than I love the skis, what HL is trying to do and know how important reputation is when starting a brand. Fan boi 4L

Its the commentators in this thread that are keeping the tune discussion going.

Some of us have noted that things might be off. We're also agreeing that the skis are great.

Unless my Swix 1 degree base bevel guide is off (which is possible), mine weren't at 1 degree. It's not a big deal, but this is information that Marshall and others need to know to either improve the product or sort out any issues that they have with the product. To just drink the Kool-aid, smile, and not say anything isn't actually helping Marshall / Heritage Labs. I know - as someone who built softgoods for years - that this feedback is essential. It's constructive. I think the world of Marshall, his knowledge, and the product that he builds.

It sounds like the issues with On3p are significantly worse than what we're talking about. No one is saying their HL stuff is unskiable - but as Marshall knows due to the service that he offers - more performance can be unlocked with a re-tune.

I'm all about anyone and everyone pointing to areas where I can get better. It is welcomed. Some things are actionable and some are not, some can be instantly adjusted and some can really only be addressed longer term/in the future. The data is helpful and its helpful for readers of the thread too. But the biggest point is that I am always listening and actively trying to address feedback, and will always do everything in my power to resolve an issue if/when they pop up.

@ XtraPickles - you feedback on the factory tune is super helpful. I don't care if your guides are perfectly calibrated to 0.002* or if any other skis on the market might have also needed a similar touch up... the point is the ski was slightly off to what expected, you used the guide, and the ski unlocked for you. I am chasing skis that are magic from the first turn - so while I spot-checked a number of skis from your run and they all came in as I intended, that isn't relevant to you either. What is relevant is that the ski wasn't perfect, but it was correctible. I obviously can't go back in time to change your ski, and it doesn't sound like you are bummed. But it does tell me to tighten up the process a little more next run, which I can and will do.

Normally this would have all been one post. But you know. Technological restrictions and the like.

Last point is that while I can't always respond to every post, and might miss a post here or there, I am always doing my best to listen. Along with posting on the threas, I really try to go the extra mile on talking through nuance with folks via email (or phone/facetime when easier that big long emails). Literally, no inquiry is too small. Here to help and ask away.

Yeah Man. Things are great. I always ski the factory tune before before making any changes. For example, some skis behave the way I want being razor sharp the whole edge and others need a heavy detune. I don't know this until I get out on them. Just like I'm always telling my kid not to just blindly add salt his food until he tastes it...

You're both cursed and blessed in that we're kinda like Beta testers as I'm assuming the vast majority of your sales (at the moment) are to people associated with the board (either actively posting or lurking)(No need to confirm or deny, that's your business). I know you're taking all the feedback from your core group of testers and these batches that are getting into the marketplace. I know every iteration is going to get better and better. One day I hope the sales we contribute are just a drop in the bucket.

I'm honestly blown away by the feel of the FR110's; they're unique. The amount of splay made me anxious initially, but they just work - amazingly well. We need people like you who aren't afraid to put out something they believe is going to be amazing.

Unfortunately not able to compare directly to the R110 or Mfree 108.Have two days on the AM110s in less than stellar snow here in Tahoe. Mostly a mix of firm groomers, pushed around soft snow over hardpack, and the occasional refrozen offpiste for science.

Mounted at -8 and the 186 model. I’m not of the former racer ilk, but enjoy skiing fast when conditions warrant. Would say I’m more in the neutral category as opposed to really pressuring the tips of my skis.

The AM110 can hold an edge as well as my old Deathwish but also isn’t as locked in so it feels easier to slash or make quick maneuvers. I never felt it unstable skiing fast on groomers despite the ease to release it from edge. The flex encourages you to drive the ski but also shut it down and pop off little features here and there. In the refrozen stuff, it was easy to slarve around, stay controlled. The tips didn’t chatter near as much as my Deathwish which may not mean anything significant in performance it at least made me feel more composed. I’m pretty confident given the shape and minimal camber that it’ll float better than the DW.

In terms of more of a chop destroyer than the R110? I’m tempted to let others chime in but feel the R110 is probably better in that category. That’s not to say these don’t have a backbone, they’re a strong ski at a good weight with a nice consistent flex throughout.

I do know the production AM110 will have some minor tweaks to my v2 version so also keep that in mind. But my understanding is that they’re minimal.

Overall stoke factor is 10/10! Thanks MO!

Order in on 192 105v2 and RC116 on the way. Someone convince me to put a 193 R or AM110 between them.

6’2”, 245, ex racer/charger type. Normally this is not my type of ski, but looking to branch out. I lean towards the AM

^ Either one is a solid choice but for a soft snow ski slot why not hop on something different for you and grab the R-Dimes? You already have two camber skis.

I bought R105, R110 and FL116SE this year.

No «need» for a ski between the 105s and 116s is my first impression, so if you do buy a 110 I’d buy R110s (or even FR110s if you’re fine with the mount point) to get something different from the skis with camber

At least you got it down to 5? [emoji23] FR110 seems the most different from your current skis. R110 could replace the MFrees
